“Epic training? Read this review”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

My colleagues and I were in the Madison, WI area for training at the Epic Headquarters in Verona. On our previous trip, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Verona, and we were very pleased with all aspects of that property. This time around, we stayed at the Quality Inn - Madison, and we were very disappointed. First, there is only 1 trip in the morning and 1 trip in the evening to Epic in Verona. When we stayed at the Holiday Inn, there were several trips, several times per day, and you can also walk to and from Epic if you are not physically challenged. Also, the rooms at the Quality Inn had a strange odor - almost like they were smoking rooms at one time but now are non-smoking. The walls and light fixtures had a yellow caste to them, which is another thing that made me think this was a smoking room at one time. It was very noisy there as well, being so close to the highway. The only advantage to the Quality Inn was that the hotel shuttle will take you into downtown Madison if you want to go for an excursion (the Holiday Inn is too far from downtown and will not bring you there).
So if you are going into the Madison area for Epic training, stay in Verona. If you are going to Madison for U of W or any other reason, stay IN downtown Madison, not on the outskirts.

“Constructed for Noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

The hotel is inantely constructed to be noisy. The room doors slam on their own - it's just the way it is. So if someone leaves a room anywhere near yours, the pictures on your wall and your lamps shake along with a very loud thud when their door closes. You hear the footsteps of everyone who walks down the hall whether they are talking or not. If they are talking you hear the entire conversation.

Fortunately we were on the top floor. I can only imagine that it sounds like a herd of elephants if someone were above you.

Unfortunately, there were groups of middle school boys running the halls all night and drunks from a party aruging as they went to their rooms at 2 in the morning. I complained at checkout but all I got was "we're sorry".

The rooms are clean but will soon need a refurb. We did not use any of the other facilities. We didn't use the free breakfast, the room was packed with middle schoolers and people with hangovers.

“Nice family stay at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

The four of us, two adults and two children, (ages 10 and 7) stayed two nights while we were vacationing and sighteeing in the area. The motel was very located close to everything we wanted to do and was clean, quiet and comfortable. We thought it was a great value, we've paid more for less. The breakfast was what you would expect, nothing fancy, but good enough. The pool was nice, but I wasn't sure how clean it was after one of the kids found a cigarette butt floating in it. Other than that, and not having enough towels the second day (which the front desk corrected immediatly), the stay was very nice. It's suprisingly close to UW Madison.

“We felt safe & well taken care of.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010 via mobile

I stayed here for an entire month with 2 autistic boys. It was raining when we checked in & an employee from the front desk helped me get settled in with the boys. The rooms are very nice and we had the pleasure of getting to know the staff pretty well. They were always helpful & so kind with our boys. We were made to feel very much at home. We'll be back!

“nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

One of the best Quality inns I've stayed at. The room was clean, the staff pleasant, and the hot breakfast was elaborate. Fitness center was limited, but well maintained.
