We stayed one night in the Madison Concourse which we wound up in after bidding on Priceline. While the service was friendly enough, I do feel that we were treated differently because of the manner in which we booked our room. The people at the front helped us to figure out where we needed to walk to see the University, but only after we asked. We also elected to park on the street at a meter instead of in the $7 daily garage (we got to the hotel after the meters stopped running and were leaving early the next morning) and the woman checking us in made a face about that. I guess I was kind of let down after having had the chance to see how incredibly nice just about everyone else in Madison was. The room was clean, but could have used some serious updating; there's nothing "charmingly historic" about a 1980's bathroom.
The location was outstanding, though, and close to restaurants, the university and the capitol, and everything felt clean and safe. All in all a decent experience, but I am very glad that we got the rate we did on priceline, as I wasn't blow away by the experience in the least.
