“I Won't Be Back Here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

I paid more than $400 for my stay here, and I can't state that I got my money's worth. They had no hair dryer, no iron, and the shampoo packet was hardly worth the trouble opening it. The front desk staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. While I was checking in, a man came into the lobby and stated that the clerk gave him a key to a room someone was already staying in! Even though I was staying for a few days my key card stopped working after one day. When I went back to the lobby to have it re-keyed, there were three other people there needing theirs redone as well. I definitely won't be back, and I don't recommend it for anyone else. I have stayed in other Red Roof Inns, and this was one of the worst I have ever stayed at.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay in October. We appreciate the time spent to let us know how we did. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations.

I am sorry we do not offer irons and hair dryers in our guest rooms. We do have them available at the front desk for our guests needing them. I am also sorry your key did not work properly.

I will share your comments with our staff to ensure they are coding them to the correct number of nights, and to let guests know that if they do go near something magnetic (such as cell phones) that they can lose their codes.

I hope you will give us another opportunity to have you as a guest in the future.

Sincerely,
Steve Marsceau

“Clean, but small and poorly layed out room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Average is being somewhat kind here. The room was small and badly layed out, but clean. Some of the neighbors were more than a little on the scary side, not something I expected in Madison. Red Roof's $1.50 safe rip-off is also getting to be annoying.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us in October. We appreciate the time spent to let us know how we are doing.

I know some of your standard king rooms are small and cozy. We also offer our Superior King room which is much larger and has a Micro/fridge, coffee maker, and new 37" flat screen TV's.
It also offers a much larger desk and is also a great value.

I hope the next time you travel in our area you will give us another try and perhaps try the larger Superior King room.

Sincerely,

“Great Value - No Surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

Very nice Red Roof Inn. Everything as expected. Not delux but a great value, especially if you have a dog as we did. We found the value such that we came back two nights later on our return trip. Enough said.

“Nice quiet property - most of the time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

This is a nice, mostly quiet property. It is well maintained to the Red Roof standards and the staff really does try to make you comfortable. It is located in a "hotel row" with a bunch of other properties (Comfort, Microtel, Marriott, etc) overlooking I-39 in Madison.

I had a minor beef when the room adjacent to mine was booked out to a bunch of 20 something partiers. They were loud and obnoxious. A quick call to the front desk resolved the problem and they were gone from the premises. The management handled the problem well and was very apologetic for the situation.

I will definately stay at this property when I return through Madison.

“Christmas in August, Ho Ho Ho, and the infamous safe fee”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

people found this review helpful

Nice hotel, and for a price of less than $50 in the Madison, it was a steal. Nice rooms, decent beds, nice desk setup which was good for doing business work. Bathroom setup was also good. Room was clean.

But this is one of those hotels that tries to get an extra $1.50 out of you for a safe fee. Sure you can have it canceled when you check out, but how many people do this? It is one of those scams that gives hotels a bad name.

I knew something was up when I checked into my room with the kids. There were four 20s aged women hanging out in the room next to ours. Two were smoking. Later, two guys in a tinted window Caddy show up. Apparently this was a staging area for a prostitution ring. While the kids were sleeping, around midnight, the two guys had a 5 minute conversation that everyone nearby could hear. The one guy was telling the other "ho, ho ,ho, what ya do with all those hoes."

Thankfully they didn't wake up early in the morning and make a bunch of noise. Instead, we had two motorcycle owners with no mufflers on their bikes who woke up everyone in the whole place at 7am with revving up their engines.

Front desk staff was quick and courteous for both check-in and check-out.

If Christmas in August isn't an issue, and you remember the safe fee, the place certainly was worth the price.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us in August. We appreciate hearing from our guests on how we are doing.

I am please to hear your room was clean and a good value. We strive to give each guest a great room at a great price. I am sorry you had to deal with the noise from the other rooms and the car that was making comments at them. We try to keep all guests noises at a minimum and will share these comments with our staff so they can be handled when happening. I am sorry for their comments which does give a bad impression. Had I known this we would have asked the driver of the car to leave the property.

I hope this will not change your mind about staying with us at the Red Roof when traveling in the Madison area. Again thank you for your comments.

Sincerely,
Steve Marsceau
