Stayed the night while en route to the Dells. We had to do some last minute shopping so it was nice the mall was nearby. We stayed here a few years back and the property was average at best, however some friends traveling with us said that they stayed in the spring and it was definately better than the time before they stayed in 08. Its not your 5 star hotel but it has was it offers, a clean room, & a friendly staff. PS thanks to the Saturday morning desk person for going out of their way and helping us with our luggage.

For $74/night you can't expect luxury.

The pros: This hotel was conveniently located near the highway, was easy to find, was affordable, and allowed pets. The service at the desk was very good, and check-in/out was quick and professional. There is a free breakfast but we slept in.

The cons: The rooms are... cozy. A king-size bed takes up most of the space, not much left over for all the luggage or a crib for baby. The a/c was working, but it was a small and noisy unit. The bathrooms are really showing their age with noisy fans and the tub didn't drain very well. We also found the pillows to be very uncomfortable.

You get what you pay for, here's hoping the chain pays for some upgrades soon.

I was traveling to Madison for one night for my son's college graduation. I chose a hotel at a great rate on Hotwire and it turned out to be the Baymont Inn on the East Side at the East Towne Mall. Okay, the hotel doesn't look the greatest from the outside (it's clean looking, but not pretty) and there isn't a big fancy sign. My room was also on the small side, but it was fine for me. The room was very clean and I had no complaints at all. Also, the great location was a definitely a plus. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. I had a great dinner with my son at BD's Mongolian BBQ - it was just a short walk away in good weather.

The best part of my stay was the service. Check-in and check-ouyt was efficient and friendly. The free continental breakfast was great. Sure the eating area was a little small, but it was nothing to complain about. Remember, it's a small Baymont Inn, not a Hilton... So, I took my freshly made waffle and brought it back to my room. And there was a very helpful staff member there to help people witht he breakfast. I think anyone complaining about the breakfast is either crazy or just not a person who can be pleased.

Overall, for the value, this was a great hotel. I can tell the management is really hiring good staff and are training the staff well. If you are on a budget and want a great value, stay here ( I will again if I can get a good rate). But, if you think it should be like a Hilton, Four Seasons, etc..., and if you cannot understand the difference, you may want to pay five times as much and stay somewhere else...

Although it was a year ago I stayed here, I had to comment because some things don't change. This was a very crappy Madison hotel that had a Baymont sign slapped on it, a trend that is happening more and more if you have seen what are passing for Baymonts these days. The only saving grace was the beds had all been replaced and the girl at the front desk was very professional... this was not enough to make up for the fact that this building is hopelessly out of date in its plumbing, electrical, accessibility, and general needs of travelers. Plus, people actually live in the hotel (it is a stop for the school bus) and you can hear their domestic disputes going on through the thin walls at all hours of the night. I specifically asked for a handicapped accessible room for my sister in law, and they put her on the 2nd floor even though there is no elevator and the landing on the stairways are so tiny you have to back down one step to open the heavy door. When they moved her downstairs, it was right next to one of the soon-to-be-drunk-and-screaming families. Although spruced up, the lobby is a tiny little nook (okay when you are the only one there, but insane if other people are there checking in or out) and the breakfast room was like a closet. I am not a fussy traveler: clean, comfortable, and quiet are my only requirements. When I saw this "new" Baymont in Madison, I thought I had discovered a gem, and it was all a big joke... on me.
