I don’t usually write reviews when I stay somewhere, but I wanted to in this case because Lookout Point Bed & Breakfast Inn is so different from any other Bed and Breakfast that we’ve stayed in. I will say that the setting is quite beautiful with wonderful views of the lake. However, we were disappointed that it was more of a boutique hotel rather than a true Bed & Breakfast. My husband and I have stayed in B&B’s all over the world and the US (including Hot Springs), and what we really enjoy about staying in them is how welcome we feel, the fabulous breakfasts, and the character, history and unique architecture of the houses. The décor in Lookout Point is mostly tastefully done, but it isn’t unique or memorable, again like something you would find in a hotel chain. The innkeepers, Ray and Kristie, did stop by for a few moments to chat at breakfast, but we didn’t feel particularly welcome then, or at any other time during our stay. It was more like we were both “just another paying guest”. Although the breakfast was tasty (and the orange daises were very cute), it wasn’t overwhelming. The price also seemed high for what we got. We paid $199 for one night and the room seemed a little cramped. We have stayed in some truly amazing homes (including in Hot Springs) that offered much more for much less cost. Overall, the room was pretty clean, although we were a little surprised that there was what looked like rust (mold?) stains all along the underside of both of the shower curtain rails. We did enjoy the “bee” shampoo and conditioners provided, as well as the robes in the closet. That was a nice touch! We could also hear the people above us walking around, which didn’t help our sleep quality. Over all, we were disappointed because we had read such wonderful reviews and were expecting so much more for the price. It also would have been nice if there were less emphasis on marketing and more personal interest in the guests. I’m not really sure why Lookout Point is listed under B&B’s section rather than the hotel section.
