Wer Ruhe und Entspannung sucht ist im Matahari Beach bestens aufgehoben. Die Anlage liegt in einem wunderschönen tropischen Garten. Die Zimmer sind traumhaft schön durchgehend im balinesischen Stil eingerichtet. Das Personal ist engagiert und sehr freundlich. Die Küche ist außergewöhnlich gut und abwechslungsreich.

We spent four nights at the Matahari Beach Resort & Spa, in north west Bali before setting off on a dive trip to Raja Ampat.

The resort is fairly compact and the semi-detached villas are spread between the main building near the road and the beach, with the more expensive ones further from the road. Each Balinese style villa is surrounded by lush, tropical vegetation which offers a fair amount of privacy. The villa consists of an air conditioned bedroom, bathroom areas and an outdoor shower. Ours had a large veranda with an outdoor dining area and sun loungers where breakfast was served to us each morning.

The spa is just gorgeous and the treatments good and reasonably priced.

During our stay the main restaurant was being refurbished, so we ate dinner at the beach restaurant. Expect to pay seriously high-end European prices.

The transfer from the airport by road takes more than three hours (when it's rush hour in Denpasar then even longer) and for this reason I would not recommend making the trip for fewer than three nights.

The villas, service, food, massage salon, etc. was 5-star. The dive shop concession was "okay". It's a beautiful resort that also has access to diving... not a dive resort.

A fabulous resort with fantastic rooms, amazing staff and beautiful pool and gardens.
The room was one half of a villa which was very private, spacious, beautifully decorated plus had a superb out door shower. The gardens were stunning and you hardly ever heard or saw any other guests apart from at the restaurants, which served lovely food.
All the staff was fabulous, including the manager who ensured all guest were happy and satisfied during their stay. The resort is built for total relaxation and every little detail was attended to, from chilled towels and fruit kebabs at the pool to turn down service in the evening.
If you'd like to experience total peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle in Kuta, this is a lovely alternative. We'd love to come back again.
