“Average Hotel north of Seminyak”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I booked my last two days in Bali here, expecting amazing luxury as I'd been staying in some budget places before this. I thought the hotel was nice and the staff were helpful, but I wasn't blown away by any means. The rooms are actually kind of basic. The restaurant has pretty average food. The pool area is nice & I could see the beach from my room, but when it rained, the roof design doesn't really work and the whole place gets sopping wet. It's just little things they are missing, like the welcome drink isn't fresh (and I had much nicer ones in the places that cost 1/4 of the price). In a place like Bali, there's just no excuse for that. I'm not a big fan of the Kuta scene, but unless you drive/walk along the beach, it's actually kind of far even to Seminyak. A metered taxi from Kuta cost about 60k and somehow it cost 100k to the airport, but I think I had a dodgy driver. I guess I was just expecting a bit more for that kind of money in Bali.

Room Tip: Ask for the beach side room

“Amazing pool area adjacent to great beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed from Christmas to just past new years.

The pool area is the drawcard - great size, with a spa, swim up bar and lots of deck chairs. Adjacent to great swimming beach with clean beatifically coloured sand. W hotel is practically next door so u know the location I great. Couple of huge huts on beach where u can but drinks and food. Very little hawking on the beach unlike kuta...

Accommodation was a mixture of hotel style rooms and villas some with own pools. Our room was ok. Beds were single beds and the decor was dated. Bathroom was great/large/posh other than exposed wiring. Room came with a DVD player. Air con was weak. Bit annoying given humidity outside.

Lots of geckos on the walls of the resort. Well maintained gardens and walking areas.

Buffet breakfast was disappointing. The best food gets eaten and doesn't seem to be replaced. Need to go early or u miss out. Annoying if u go out the previous nite.

Quality of food was generally quite good. Was disappointed with food quality at Xmas gala dinner (steak was rubbish/almost liquid like!) but food at nye dinner was a great improvement.

Staff friendly and helpful.

Great location in north seminyak. Naughty nurse steakhouse is down the road (cheap spare ribs a must) as is Metis (french restaurant wow)!

Bit of a wait to get a taxi from hotel to rest of Bali. Maybe it was just the new year period. Not sure.

They have entertainment nearly each nite by the pool which is ace. Bands singers etc. Great work!

I miss that swim up bar! The mudslide cocktails were divine!!!!

Overall very noice!

We were back again in January and just loved being there again. It was like coming home.
the staff are wonderful, the gardens are superb, the location is the best. thank you again to you all for making our two week holiday the best. Tip. The rooms on the higher floors give you sea views and sea breezes.

“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We have stayed there 1 night, just after arriving in the morning, thus we could enjoy the pool, sea and beach. Great atmosphere, entrance and hotel staff.

It is possible to walk on the beach to Kuta and Seminyak, 20-30min or to use the free private bus of the hotel in order to see around and find some nice little restaurants and bars. Not that far from Ku De Ta.

I liked the welcoming atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and very good facilities. Great breakfast buffet!

I disliked perhaps the location of our room (back side and view on a big wall, but quiet!)

Room Tip: Try to have a room with view on the beach, suite in this hotel is excellent

“Good for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Booked for nine nights. The hotel is old but nice. Good outlook.
Seaview room number 409, top floor. Great view. Fresh air, No mossies.
Room was very clean and spacious. The bed was large and comfortable. We slept very well. Renovated bathroom, tiled from floor to ceiling, large separate shower and lots of hot water. Split a/c worked well. Noisy on the balcony but ok inside and healthy as you do not get other people smells and germs.
We had some disco noises one night from the beach Warung next door but this did not disturb us. Also the hotel had some entertainment when we were there and we enjoyed listening to it. The hotel is at the "back of woop woop", so quiet, no loud yobbos, just friendly guests. The swimming pool is very clean. There were "pool noodles" for the guests to use. The Staff were very friendly and happy, creating a pleasant athmosphere. Breakfast was good, we had dinner once and it was good and the price was fair. We were entertained with some traditional Balinese dancers.
Taxi to Kuta or near by was between $4 and $6.50.
There are four warung on the left along the beach. Good food, very good price, nice outlook. A lot of expat use it for dinner. Another warung on the right end side is still under construction.

Negative:
a) Not enough coat hangers (5) We bought a dz from tBintan supermarket in Semiyak for $2.50.
b) The renovated bathroom did not have any hooks for clothes. We use the side of the bath to store our clothes while we had a shower.
c) No clothes airer available on the balcony to dry our swimmers.
d) The beach was not very clean. They do rake it but the waves bring bits and pieces regularly.

Room Tip: Out of the whole complex, Seaview rooms are the best. 409 balcony was private and had a good view. 4...
