“We liked the place”

Rambutan
Our first time staying here after 20 annual visits to Lovina. We had booked a superior room which was huge. Other positives were; A walk in robe, big bathroom, separate toilet, comfortable mattress, great freshly cooked breakfast selection. No negatives to report, but a couple of comments. A standard double bed seems a bit small for the rooms name and price. The shower rose was at the right height for those not wanting to wash their hair, but 6’ westerners have to bow a bit. A shower curtain would be handy; otherwise access to the toilet has a wet floor. Our bath towel rail collapsed on me. Why? Because the builder used a 2 X 6” nails to secure it to the brickwork instead of 4 rawl plugs and screws. It’s not the owners fault, more a reflection on Bali’s builders. We liked the place and cannot see why we would not stay here again when we visit Lovina in 2013.

“Amazing Family place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

If you have kids, stay here. Kids of any age will love the rambling green layout complete with tree houses child friendly pools and play area.

Our child had a blast playing with other kids from all over the globe.

I was kind of dragged there to the surfless north from the amazing surf breaks in south Bali by the wife and while the ocean is always flat the location is awesome. It's quiet and relaxed. The beach perfect for kids.
The only negative I'd say about Rambutan is the breakfast is pretty average but apart from that its an really great place and we'll definitely be back!

. Thanks for coming back to us again, even though Lovina doesn't offer any waves. Glad your kids enjoyed the tree house and other facilities. Having kids of our own, although they are now teenagers, we have always taken kids into consideration when we were building up our hotel. Look forward to meeting you again on your next visit.

“Always a pleasure, our second visit as good as the first!”

My family (2ad and 2ch, 6yo and 4yo) stayed at the Rambuttan for a week in January 2012, this was our second visit to the Rambuttan. We stayed in the Permaisuri 2 bedroom villa and we found it to be very comfortable with perfect facilities for a young family (secure interconnecting room, TV/DVD, lounge). We even had our own private bale! The resort also has an outdoor children's play area, tree house plus an undercover play area adjacent to the restaurant.

The gardens are beautiful and a delight to stroll through. Walking through the gardens on our first day was like coming home!

Both pool areas are lovely, but our favourite was the large pool near the restaurant. Breakfasts are great with plenty of choice. I particularly loved the porridge! Our kids loved the play area near the restaurant and this was perfectly positioned so that we were able to enjoy a cuppa while the kids enjoyed having a play. The library was also great for spending a wonderful lazy afternoon sipping cappuccinos, reading, dozing on the comfy couch, and taking an occasional dip in the pool.

We have really enjoyed both of our stays at the Rambutan. Our first visit in 2010 was only for 3 nights and we felt it wasn't long enough. This time we really pleased to extend our stay to 7 nights, this really allowed us to unwind in lovely Kalibukbuk.

Hosts Tini and Richard, and their staff, provide an excellent personalised service and it is lovely to be remembered as returning guests.

We highly recommend the Rambutan and have no hesitation staying there again. Its a wonderful, peaceful spot to relax and unwind, a true gem in Lovina!

Room Tip: Permaisuri - spacious two bedroom single level villa, excellent location within resort and close to...

“Nice property but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We thought the property was beautiful and the room okay - some nice Balinese touches and overall decent value. I would drop the name "honeymoon suite" for the Putri. I think it set our expectations too high, but no big deal. However, we found the food very poor. In fact we had a hard time finding decent food in Lovina. Also, for Christmas day some sort of celebration was held for the local children and teenagers, which is a nice thing to do but perhaps poorly timed and located? Very loud dance type music was played in the afternoon which for some mysterious reason stopped and started repeatedly every. 20 secs. This went on for a couple hours (musical chairs?). Not too considerate to the guests that came for a relaxing Christmas. Our biggest disappointment was the depressing beachfront nearby covered with garbage, layered deep in the sand all along the shore and in the water. Very sad thing. Complicated problem I"m sure but sorry to say we were sorry we made the long drive and left 3 days early. I would be very interested to know more about this problem as a beach vendor told us it was due to heavy rains but have also seen the garbage problem further west at Pemuteran one December when the winter rains had failed to arrive yet.

Thank you for your trip advisor report on our place and Lovina.
Regarding you comments on food in Lovina I guess you might of chosen the wrong places in your short stay, but there is a great variety of restaurants in Lovina, from Japanese, Thai and many Indonesian places. I often try and recommend places to people when they ask and you will find many restaurant in close walking distance to Rambutan.

Yes we celebrate Christmas and for me it is all about the kids, so sorry if you were disturbed by our party where we invite all the local kids of Lovina to. It was all finished by 4pm if my memory serves me right and guests are also welcome to join in. I think the musical chairs lasted about one hour. We also have another pool in the front of the hotel where people often choose if the back main pool is too busy, or if there is an event happening in the front.

Regarding rubbish on the beaches of Bali, this is an annual problem, especially in the beginning of the wet season. Kuta beach collect about 60 truck loads a day. Lovina beach is a lot smaller and there are people cleaning it every day.

“Great Hotel.....Really Nice Owners”

Stayed here with a small group of friends. Enjoyed EVERYTHING. The spa was an added plus. I have been to Bali many times and have to rate this place all around as one of the best. Richard and Tini couldn't be sweeter. I will recommend this place...actually already have...to all my friends. Took a snorkeling trip to Menjangan. Amazing! I will be back!

Room Tip: For a real treat, book the Putri Villa. My friends did and it was lovely.
