“Elite Houseboat/Mr Joffy/Kerala Houseboat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We hired a 4 bedroom houseboat from Elite Houseboats on the 30th December 2011. This is a very expensive time of year to visit Kerala I am always very nervous about arranging things just by email but Mr Joffy absolutely kept to his word. The boat was very new and just like the pictures you see on all the houseboat websites - coir covered, but teak framed. The rooms were comfortable and smart, the bathrooms were very clean and modern.

The absolute winning features of this trip was the food and staff. The food was delicious and catered to both the hardened green chilli fans and the more nervous; the staff were friendly and always on hand without being intrusive. There was a lovely open sided covered area to sit at the front of the boat but there wasn't anywhere to get a bit of sun so don't plan any sunbathing - plenty of time for that on the Keralan beaches.

There were a couple of problems as the boat was very new, including one of the bathrooms having an odd smell, but these did not impact at all on a wonderful 20 hour trip on the backwaters. I would also recommend the premium package as the canoe trip was very interesting.

The whole kerela trip for us was very nice. The arrangements were good right from the picking us from the station nd then dropping us off.The innova was in good condition nd thanfully we did not have any car breakdowns. The driver was well aware of the area nd was cooperative. The hotels in the package were also very decent. The houseboat though was a bit old but the service aboard kind of made up for that. The food served in the houseboat was awesome. The total cost was a little on a higher side.Overall experience was good.

“Very relaxing, do not miss this experience!”

My husband, 2 friends and I spent 2 nights on a house boat organised through the email address of this company. Then name of the company we corresponded with was Elite Houseboat.

The houseboat was great, we had 2 ensuite double bedrooms and there was a third bedroom for the 3 guys on board who looked after us.

This was the most relaxing time we had in India and I would definitly recommend it. We also got the oppertunity to do a canoe ride one evening through the smaller canals.

The most stressful thing I had to worry about while on board was whether to risk missing some of the amazing scenery by reading my book!

The food was delicious, the guys who looked after us were great and we were sad when it came to an end. I would advise 2 nights on a houseboat, to give yourself time to fully relax, 1 night would have been too short.

I would definitly recommend this.

“House Boat - Elite Tours / Kerala House Boats”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Excellent, Awesome and Marvelous were the three words which came in our mind when my wife and I came out of the house boat after a one day and night trip (Alleppey round) in this houseboat. The houseboat name was Grace and it belongs to the Elite Tours/Kerala house boat, the boats are managed and handled by Mr. Joffy. This was indeed the best house boat we could have got in Alleppey - Kerala. The house boat was clean; the rooms were awesome, and hospitality marvelous.
Regarding the trip: We reached Alleppey Railway Station in morning at around 5 am and have requested Mr. Joffy for transfer and a home stay for a short time around 3-4 hours because the houseboat check-in time was around 11.30 am. He arranged both for us for nominal amount. The driver at the station was on time and then he left us at a home stay. The home stay was normal and just OK, this was acceptable as we have requested for an economical stay just for three to four hours. Of course we could have gone for the higher one but our main focus was on Houseboat trip.
At around 11.30 am, Mr. Joffy himself came to the home stay to receive and leave us on the houseboat (house boat pics attached). We checked in at around 12.00 pm. We have requested for a premium service (which means AC can be operated anytime of the day and also some additional snacks and beverages items). He then introduced us to the crew members (crew members pics attached). they were three in number, driver, cook and an attender. All were very humble and surprisingly everybody knew English and Hindi too, hence we didn’t find any problem in conversing with them throughout the trip. The cook prepared amazing food (food pics attached), the staff was very helpful and caring. The room, dining area and the alley was very clean. The bathroom and basin area hygienic and decent. We enjoyed the whole trip. I feel that they are amongst the best in Alleppey because I met a few more couples later in Munnar and they told their horrible experience of other Houseboats.
Thus, I think this is amongst the best houseboats you can get in Alleppey, there may be few more but the Elite/kerala houseboat made my trip fantastic.

Thanks you Mr. Joffy and the crew members, hope to see you all again. You all rocks!!!

Best regards,
Jitendra

It was amazing to spend a night on the boat. Boat was very good and clean. Room was also good, clean and AC was effective. They delivered whatever was promised. As far food is concerned, that was also good but don't expect much hygiene. Staff was very friendly. You also get dish TV viewing in night so ladies won’t miss their daily soaps. Don't forget to keep your room door close always to avoid insects/flies entries.

Room Tip: Please ask booking in bigger house boats with more rooms. Single room house boats have smaller sitti...
