“Dirty - do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Firstly watch some of the reviews here - the good ones clearly relate to the Marari Beach Resort(which does have a pool) a couple of miles down the Beach which is excellent.

Have to support the negative reviews - we arrived for four days on 15th January 2012 - the room was not ready and when we finally got in we decided not to bother to unpack. The room was just dirty - the shower was filthy - being open isn't too bad - but it just hadn't been cleaned properly and the loo leaked. There were stains on the fabric headboard, stains on the floor, the hammocks were in shreds and Took a taxi with our luggage to the nearby Marami Beach Resort and stayed there instead. Didn't get to sample the food so can't judge.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here

“Enjoy absolute tranquility and friendly staff!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

If you want to be far away from everything and enjoy absolute tranquility, then this THE place to go. The last kms to the resort are gravel roads and once you've arrived there, don't count on leaving the resort for meals or shopping. The best is to enjoy the wonderful unspoilt beaches - the sea was warm and calm and not dangerous when we were there - and the peacefulness of the compound and take all meals there. Contrary to what I had read on TripAdvisor, we found the staff very friendly and helpful, particularly the Manager, Mr Aravind - introducing yourself to staff and being friendly towards them helps a lot! The restaurant offers a great variety of meals - all the ones we tried were excellent. Moreover, they prepared prawns for us each night from the catch of the day. The only drawback for us was that we had probably overpaid our cottage by booking through booking.com. Going there and negotiating the price directly with Mr Aravind might come cheaper ...

“***** Worst do not go **************”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I have been to this resort on Dec 2011 with my family and booked a non a/c bamboo cottage, first of all this resort is 15 kms away from aleppey city and only way of travelling is by auto, each time i had spent 300 to reach aleppey, i found the following major drawbacks of this resort

-Far from city
-Worst rooms (dirty..no maintenance & room service)
-Worst food (even to get this they'll take hours in the restaurant)
-Staff is not polite
-Low voltage during day time, fan will also not run properly
-Resort is still under development, no proper way to walk
-Items are very costly in restaurant, looks like the're targetting fe foreigners
-Lot of attention towards foreigners
-Lot of insects in and around cottage

after I reach there, the reception guys informed that 90% of the tourists are foreigners
Great thing about this resort is it's just 1 min walk from cottages
So, if you want to have some drink & enjoy in beach..then it's suitable for you..othewise, you can avoid this place.

Room Tip: you can go for A/C cottage

“Terrible place to stay!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We are regular travellers around the globe and in India. Must say this place is pathetic and the worst place ever stayed in. Firstly on arrival itself the stench of dried fish was overbearing. The photographs are misleading. The washrooms are open to sky with no flooring near the shower area due to which there are lot of insects and reptiles around. As our 6 yr old son was petrified of this we had to check out and look for another place. The staff was very rude and refused to refund any money. .The rates are exhobitant and would rate it less than a 2 star hotel. We forfited our amount and stayed at nearby The Turtle Bay Resort which was cheaper and excellent.

“Do not go by the photos, we fell in the trap!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

It was our honeymoon and after a very nice day on the houseboat, we were looking forward for the stay.
The cottages were not clean and the bed sheets were stained!!!
The quality of the food was very bad. Its a big shame to provide low quality food to customers It boasts of lot of activities near by but unfortunately none are true.
The beach was also not impressive!!!
I remember clearly looting us of an additional 1.5k for a taxi trip from there to kochin.
Wanted to write this for a long time.
A question to the owners and the management:
Do you know what a resort is? If not, please venture out. See some. Upgrade your resort and then charge the money you guys are charging now. It is a shame to keep it open !!!
