We arrived to discover that the extra bed we had requested was not in the room. It took a few attempts to have it delivered. When it did arrive it was not so much an extra bed as 2 sun-bed mats cobbled together under a sheet. The contraption was too short for our 14 year old son... The kettle didn't work. The TV did not have reception. Despite the advertised promise of free WiFi, we had no internet connection at all. The bed was hard and the fitted sheet was so small it kept falling off the corners. The shower ran in a trickle. The restaurant served a good breakfast (included in the stay), but the other meals were lack lustre. The menu was amateur and the meals expensive for what was provided. The experience would not have been so shocking had we not just stayed in a fabulous family room in Kampot for half the price the night before. Be warned that the taxes (2% room tax AND 5% service tax) are not included in the price. This can become very tricky when the hotel does not accept Mastercard or even a Cambodian ANZ bank card and there is no ATM in Kep. Not relaxing, not good value for the considerable money (in relative terms) spent.
Room Tip: Many rooms are very large. Check to see if you really need multiple rooms, even if the hotel sugges...
