We stayed here for two nights after reading good reviews here. We can see why it gets such praise but it wasn't quite what my wife was after. As has been said, the views are stunning, it's ultra peaceful with less than a dozen rooms and it is a partnership with the local Maasai people. However, the rooms are powered by solar power, meaning that we had no hot water (only lukewarm showers) and no battery charging during the cloudy days we were there. This is fatal for photographers like us unless you are packing serious backup batteries. People say the rooms are well equipped but ours seemed a little sparse, with an un-closable bathroom window, not enough artificial light for night time, no tissue box and nowhere to hang clothes. Our roof made loud noises whenever there was a gust of wind, which was quite often given that the lodge is on the top of a hill.
The food was decent, and nice that they catered to personal needs.
The road to the lodge is long, bumpy and not well signposted (our experienced driver missed it and we arrived late as a result).
It's nice if you like seclusion, eco-friendly living and a personal touch. If you're particular about creature comforts and functionality you'd be better off somewhere else.
