“Trust me...find another hotel. You will thank me."”
This was the third time in 3 years that I have stayed at this Ramada property...it will be the last. This is a property that ownership has given up on. Each time I am there the place looks more run down, with more sanitation and maintenance issues, and more loitering by numerous "guests" in the parking lot, lobby and corridors. Granted, the price had fallen, too. This time there was a huge banner on the building offering rooms at 40 dollars. This extremely budget friendly price may have alot to do with the problems I outlined above.
The highlights:
The first two guest keys I was given did not work. Granted it was a hot weekend (90 degrees) but in spite of keeping the curtains drawn and the AC on High...it was never comfortable in the room. It was cooling some, but never to the point where you'd think "Ahhh, glad I have this AC".
The room had a musty smell, perhaps from all the mildew on the shower curtain. The free wireless internet worked well, much better than the TV that would not get loud enoughs to hear over the continually running AC unit. Walls were dirty with who knows what and the carpet was stained and fraying. Oddly enough, the bed was quite comfortable. Go figure.
There are two ice machines...the one on the third floor was broken and this empty. In spite of this the night lobby attendant kept sending guests to the third floor for ice as he had locked himself the lobby, the location of the one working ice maker. He said that it was policy to lock himself in the lobby, but I suspect that it had something to do with denying access to the hundred or more hotel guests that were having an impromptu party in and around the hotel and parking lot after a concert at the nearby Coliseum. Luckily the staff was on top of the situation and had it broken up after only 6 and half hours (at 4:30am).
I could go on...like the free breakfast..not commercial food service offerings, but a few items on the counter that appeared to have been purchased at the supermarket: gallon of milk, big jar of peanut butter, package of bagels, big tub of cream cheese.
Oh and I got stuck in the elevator...but only for 5 minutes. I had to call the front desk on my cell phone. I was asked "are you sure you pushed the button?".
There are several reputable chains nearby, try one.
