“Hate to say this but…”

I was hoping to give a good review but I’m afraid I have to bring up some issues I had staying here. My co-worker and I were on a business trip and planned on staying here for 2+ weeks. We stayed here because we needed a kitchenette. We booked a suite and were greeted by a very nice woman at the counter. I read previous reviews and was a little worried but I figured since the manager responded to the complaints, maybe the issues were fixed. Well, here are some of our own issues we ran into…
We were put in a first floor suite and as I was setting up my stuff in the bathroom I saw a small bug run across the counter, I didn’t think it was a big deal at first until we turned the lights on in the kitchen. Several bugs were coming out of the disposal; we washed them down the drain and let it go. The next day the bugs got bigger, I want to say roach like but not as big and then more bugs in the drain. That was enough so we went to the front desk and told her our issue. She immediately switched our room to the 2nd floor. When we got in the room there was a very strong odor, almost like a cover up from someone that smoked. The carpets were stained and overall the room seemed run down. The shower was newer and the room was pretty clean considering, but the initial impression pretty much ruined our stay.
Another issue I had was the cleaning crew. I didn’t have to work until later in the afternoon and in order to get sleep I wore headphones so I didn’t wake up to the outside noise. I was fine with that since I had odd hours. I put the do not disturb sign on the door, but thought I heard knocking on the door a few times. When I left for work I saw the sign was gone so the next day I decided to deadbolt the door so I wasn’t disturbed. Well, the next few days I realized they were constantly trying to get in the room. They would knock, try to get in and knock again. What did they not get about the door being locked??
We told our VP’s about the issues we were having and they had us immediately check out and move to another hotel. Talk about an inconvenience!

Your concerns are our concerns and we thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address them. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and attention to detail. The infestation that you described was extraordinarily unusual and we are pleased to say, has not been experienced by any other guests. Marriott has a strictly enforced No Smoking policy in effect and everyone is notified of the fines associated with smoking in a guest room. Although we were able to move you and your colleague, many of our rooms were unavailable due to renovations. We apologize for the inconveniences that you experienced during your brief stay and would welcome a call from you to discuss the issues you were having.

“Terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I have stayed here at least 15 times. I'm a gold member with Marriott. Everytime I stay here it seems to get worse. In my profile I always ask for a high floor. I got the second floor. So now I get to hear a buffalo jump around in the room above me. Today (September 26, 2011) I went to the front desk for a cable for the internet. As usual they didn't have one in the room. The last time I was here I called down and after 45 minutes I finally had to go down myself and pick it up. They said they forgot about me. So this time I just went to the front desk to get one. They wouldn't give me one but called maintenance to bring one up. I waited 45 mintues and finally called the front desk. One phone didn't work so I had to use the bedroom phone. Broken phones are pretty typical here also. The front desk person said she would bring it up immediately. After 20 mintues I again called. She again said she would bring it up immediately. After another 20 mintues the maintenance man finally dropped it off at my room. I had to wait so long I couldn't work out due to work I had to do on computer.

“Wonderful Experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

My extended family of 6 stayed at the Residence Inn for one night in a two bedroom suite and it was gorgeous. The room was very clean and the bed was hands down the most comfortable hotel bed that I've ever slept in. The staff was extremely friendly with every interaction, it seemed that they truly enjoyed their job and passed that along to the travelers. The price of the suite was very affordable especially considering a free hot breakfast was included. When in the area again, I won't stay anywhere else.

“Ok, but not great...”

Stayed here four nights while attending a conference in the area. Staff was efficient, although I did mention upon check-in that I was a "light sleeper" and asked for a quiet room. I was offered a choice of two rooms on the third floor. One was next to the laundry and across the hall from the elevator. I chose the other room, and it was ok. The room was older, but clean, and the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping staff did a good job.
Breakfast was the usual fare, well presented and stocked. I didn't partake of the dinners.
Note that there is not much in the immediate area, other than a TGIF, so if you don't have transportation, dining choices are limited. There is a shuttle van, and a shopping mall not too far away, but I'd not recommed visiting there after dark.
The pool was filled with green slime, and the spa was half empty. I can only assume they were closed for the season?

Room Tip: The elevators are very noisy, with lots of "bing-bongs."

Thank you so much for your review and also for your honest opinion of your stay with us.
We have taken your review and shared it with our staff members. We have also noted your comments about the age of the room. I would like to let you know that we are scheduled for a full renovation in November 2011.
As for the pool and spa, it is an outdoor facilty, we have made sure that in the next season that the pool is covered and winterized as soon as the pool closes to prevent it from being an eyesore.
Once again thank you’re your review and we look forward to hosting you again when you are in the area.

“Good Value for Families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way South. I have 4 young children, so finding a hotel that can accomodate us is important. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and the set up was perfect. Kitchen for us to store stuff from our cooler, good sized bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Nice small pool and free breakfast. While I know these hotels are set up for business travelers who have temporary assignments away from home, I think these suites really suit families well for the price. Staff was great. Very friendly and willing to help us manage our crew.
