This was one of the neatest older hotels we have ever stayed in. I normally like to stay in a newer updated hotel. My allergies do not do well with mold and musty smelling rooms. I was very sceptical about staying here, but the pictures looked good so I decided to try it. I was very surprised. The staff at check in was very nice. They had a bird who talked which my child loved. Parking was not too great. The spaces were small and hard to navigate. Our room was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with living room, kitchen and pull down murphy bed. The furnishings were not new nor luxury, but they were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was large enough and sufficient. It did not have granite counters, but we were not expecting them either. The fireplace was great. There was a balcony that hung over the creek. We actually left our window open at night so we could hear the creek. The indoor pool was absolutely wonderful. It had a beautiful waterfall and a bridge. It also had a little balcony off the back of the building where you could sit by the creek. The water in the pool was very warm and nice to swim in. We took the kids up to swim in the winter. The only bad thing was walking outside to get to our room after swimming. Once it finally quit raining, we were able to go outside for a bit one afternoon. There were ducks in the creek. We took some bread and fed the ducks. There were also outdoor grills which would have been great to use in the spring, summer or fall. It was rather cold when we were there. The outdoor pool was very small and was not kept up for the winter. I don't think I would have gone in the summer time for the pool. The rooms were nice and spacious for the money. You could easily stay at the hotel and walk around in Gatlinburg. We were very happy with our stay and will definately be back.
