“Nice but not quite what we expected”

Overall, I would say that the condo we stayed in at Johnson's Inn was pretty nice but not excellent. The location can not be beaten. You can walk all over town from these condo's. The condo was large enough to sleep four easily but if all four want to sit at the same time someone is going to be in a dining chair. Living room seating is a love seat and one easy chair. The love seat looked to have seated many, many people in it's life time. Judging from the arms, not all of those folks had clean hands.

The other comments I have are more personal preferences than actual complaints. It said the condo was professionally decorated and I have to wonder if the decorator's day job was sprucing up funeral homes. This place is so dark and depressing that I don't think I would have stayed another night if it had been free. The lamps had extremely low wattage bulbs and some had dark shades. It was impossible to read in there, day or night. I had asked for a condo near the elevator and it turned out we were in the one furtherest away. The doorway was in such a secluded area that when I was there alone I would never venture outside at night. I had also asked for one of the places with the mountain theme such as the deer, bears or whatever. Didn't get that either.

We seldom saw anyone but the young lady cleaning rooms was pleasant when we passed her on our way in or out. I really would like to have seen some other rooms there but never felt comfortable asking. If we ever go back there I will ask for (may not get it considering past experience) one of the places that open on to the pool area. They looked to be a lot brighter. All in all, the place was pretty nice and I'm not saying I would never stay again, I would just want it understood where I preferred to stay and maybe have that in writing.

Finally, let me say that I never mentioned any of this to the desk clerk because we had already hauled all our stuff to the place we were assigned and I sure didn't want to change then. They probably would have changed if I had asked. Just be warned that the second floor end condo is not the most desirable one in the place, I'm sure.

Room Tip: Ask for first floor pool area. I believe them to be the choice ones. The entire place is quiet so n...

“Not overly pleased!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

Room rates were pretty reasonable but would rather spend the extra few dollars on a hotel that has comp. breakfast. The rooms we stayed in did not look like the rooms on the internet. Our balcony looked out at a dirty roof. Not much of a view. Dont think we will be staying here again. To many other choices.

“Comfortable and Clean!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

This was a VERY last minute trip thrown together in all of a couple days. We booked the hotel room over the phone and got there late the day we arrived. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, plenty of towels and the television was big enough for everybody to see no problem. We spent the majority of our time in the kitchenette playing cards, even the dishes that they provide were clean. The lady at the front desk was more than friendly. I recommended this place for my sister and her new husband to go stay at while they were in Gatlinburg!

I stayed back in October of 2009 (not 2010 like it states).

“It is so quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

This is not a new hotel, but it has many attributes that overshadow its dated rooms, which, I might add, are very clean. Johnson's Inn is about a half block in from the Parkway, where noise, crowds and city lights blare. But at Johnson's Inn it is so quiet, you would think that the Parkway is miles away. We stayed in the building which had condos as well as hotel rooms on the third floor with a balcony that overlooked the pool. We used the balcony a lot. The room also had a fireplace that would be nice in colder weather. There is nothing fancy here, but the price is right, the place is clean and you can walk to almost everything.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a fireplace and balcony

“Good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

My husband and son stayed here only one night before we got our cabin. The room was nice and the location was great. The only problem i had was with the shower. Wow you talk about water pressure! lol The most powerful shower ive ever had. Also VERY HOT! Had to barely touch the hot water and it was super hot. I wouldnt have wanted to shower here everyday. Especially if you had a sunburn ouch. Not sure if it was just our room or not. But overall a nice stay and would stay again.
