“Cozy & Clean Condo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

people found this review helpful

Just a quick getaway to Gatlinburg with friends and myself! Hiking in the Greenbriar area
with the sun on our backs was a breath of fresh air! We fell in love with a cozy condo over looking downtown Gatlinburg as we just happened to stumble upon this jewel!
Our kitchen was perfect & furnished with the utensils that we needed for a great meal!
Surprisingly the mattress was great in the master bedroom so we were very comfortable.
The unit was very modern it was so affordable that we are already planning another winter get a way & hopefully we can get # 411! We were even able to visit around the fireplace & discuss our next hiking adventure!

“Excellent value--close enough, but not too close!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

Just spent 5 nights in Unit 401--end unit with views of Sky Lift and Space Needle from balcony. Even saw a beautiful black bear roaming the parking lot one night--apparently not an unusual sighting! Staff was very friendly, efficient and very helpful--especially Linda and Chrissie (not sure about the spelling of her name). There's a nice heated pool to enjoy. The mattresses are a little soft and squeaky, but offer a comfortable night's sleep. This is a condo--not a hotel--towels are provided, but bring your own hair dryer. There are 67 steps from the back of the Condo to street level and a 10 minute walk to the Strip--not bad at all and we were all over 55 (4 adults). Unit 401 is well-kept, hardwood floors, 2 BR, 2 BA, with a small kitchen--but who wants to cook when you're on vacation and surrounded by tons of restaurants, all within walking distance. We liked McCutcheon's Brass Grill and the Pancake Pantry for breakfast. If you're in Pigeon Forge, try the Log Cabin Pancake House near Dollywood Lane. Be prepared for endless traffic and lots of people, which makes Laurel Inn a nice retreat from the hustle and noise of the Strip. Parking near the Strip can be difficult--it's really easier to walk from the Condo and leave your car in the parking lot. If you'd rather not do that, there's a little church near the Fire Department not far from the condo that offers parking for $5.00 on the honor system. I would definitely stay at the Laurel Inn again and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to stay on the Strip, where bars stay open till 3:00 a.m.

“It was a good stay!”

Overall - It was good stay however I would like to notice that rooms are very small. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

“Nice to be close to downtown.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2009

The outside of the complex is deceiving; it looks very run down and out of date. Also, when we arrived, there was only 3 other cars in the parking lot. Once inside #208, it was much nicer, but somewhat out-of-date decor (one of the comforters was the same one my husband and I had for our bedroom 12 years ago), and the wallpaper in the bathroom has to be at least 20 years old (I don't think they make those colors anymore!). There was a huge amount of dust behind the desk and tv stand in bedroom (I wouldn't have noticed it except I dropped something back there and had to pick it up). There was also a significant amount of dust on the baseboards in the bathroom. When my husband and I got ready for bed, we discovered that near the foot of the bed on the fitted sheet on my side was chunks of melted chocolate! Due to it being late and the office being closed, and having no extra sheets, we had to just pull up the top sheet and sleep on that. When I let the staff know in the office the next day, he just shrugged and said, "well, there are extra sheets in the closet". I informed him no, there wasn't. He just shrugged again. (So, when was the last time the sheets were washed?). There was mildew behind the shower organizer, and if you are over 5 feet 5 inches, it will be more of a challenge to shower due to the shower head being so low( I am 5 feet 9, my husband almost 6 feet three). We also did not realize that we would have to wash the towels before we left; if we would have known, I would have brought our own towels or at the very least our own detergent so we wouldn't have to buy any. Now, on the good side....the place was quiet, the pool was nice (although the water was cold, even in July), and we could walk to downtown in about 10 minutes; not having to take a car is great! The free wifi was very quick too. I do think though, that the next time we visit the area, we will probably stay somewhere else; after all the fees on top of the very reasonable rate, it was pretty much the same as having our own cabin.
