We chose this particular hotel for its proximity to an event that was taking place in Gatlinburg. This is the second Fairfield Inn within the same county we've stayed at in a 5-month time period. The other was in nearby Sevierville, TN. In both cases the accommodations can be described as "adequate at best". The room, although tight, was relatively well maintained, but had poor lighting and a few "dings" in the walls from luggage, etc.. It had a mini-fridge, but it was sitting on the floor-a little tacky.
There was no wi-fi, which seems utterly ridiculous in 2012. The pillows were old, the mattresses were saggy, and the sheets/blankets were thin. If this had been a longer stay we would have considered changing hotels, but for what we needed we toughed it out. The elevator was slow, too.
We skipped the complimentary breakfast, which appeared to be the standard high carb, low protein fare. The dining area was very small, so during peak season it's probably difficult to navigate.
There are several amenities that are probably very appealing to families with younger kids. A trolley stop is right outside the front door, and a miniature golf course is adjacent to the property.

We stayed with other families at this hotel, as we had stayed here last time and the rates are good and the front desk is very helpful. The rooms cleanliness leaved ALOT to be desired..it was clean but not marriott standard clean...corners went uncleaned and the bathrooms seemed to only have the basics cleaned nothing above or beyond the bare minimum. We stayed for 3 nights and while housekeeping was up to snuff in changing our sheets and making the beds daily (alot of hotels choose to go green nowadays and don't do this without specific instructions) The location is on the edge of town so it's not really within walking distance IF you have small kids but the trolley is affordable and picks up in front of hotel. Also because it's on the edge of town it's close to get to Pigeon Forge too. The indoor pool and hot tub are nice and clean. Breakfast has a nice variety but watch out for the lady in charge..she treats it like a military chow hall!

Visited Gatlinburg January 2012. Hotel is in a great location on the trolley line. Staff is friendly and helpful, taking time to answer questions. There is an Exxon station next door that serves pizza, burger, sandwiches and breakfast at reasonable prices. An excellent alternative to over priced dining in the resort area. Bed and pillows were so fresh and comfy I slept like a baby. Room was quiet and over looked a stream.
Housekeeping though had forgotton to look at the desk chair and it had crumbs and a candy wrapper on it. Room also smelled like the carpet had been soaked too many times from people dripping water on it after swimming. This problem vanished after the hear was turned on. But I think the hotel should replace the carpeting. These were small problems though and I enjoyed my stay very much. Would return.

Rooms very nice and clean. I used the fitness center and indoor pool/hot tub. Both areas are nice and very clean. Lobby has a fireplace and a nice atmosphere. Not able to walk to the main areas but driving and parking was easy.
