“Pleasant, but needs some improvements; however might stay again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We had read good/not so good reviews on tripadvisor.com, especially concerning problems with the parking; so, we decided to wait until our arrival to make reservations...which was a little nerve-racking, considering it was Thanksgiving week! However, upon our arrival, there was a room available with 2 queen beds, micro, fridge and fireplace overlooking the river. We weren't able to see the rooms, because they have had many problems with people not returning keys in a timely fashion after reviewing rooms; so, we drove around to several other places to make sure this was the place we wanted to stay...we were able to glance into one of the rooms while driving by (as the door was open) and the parking looked a little precarious, but not too bad....after looking around town, with most places booked or much more expensive than The River Terrace, we decided on staying. Upon taking our bags to the first room - located on the 5th floor right by the elevator (room 3520, I think) - there was make-up on the bathroom counter...I believe the housekeeper maybe had just "spot cleaned" in here, but the rest of the room was immaculately clean... So we called the front desk, they were INCREDIBLY apologetic, offered to move us, or refund our money. Because they were so ready to oblige, because we really liked the room and location, because our 2 boys were very excited to be staying "on the 5th floor, overlooking the town," AND because they had another available room at the end of the same floor, right by the stairs, we just decided to stay... The staff quickly BROUGHT us a new set of keys. The second room (room 3530) was great, very clean, and a corner room; so, we actually had a little better view of the town and the mountains. (*The room we stayed in is in the River Tower building, the tall building shown in the hotel's profile pic above.) The beds were comfortable, the pillows - not so much; the gas fireplace was nice and the mountain view from the balcony was great with the sound and view of the river flowing below. The location of the hotel/motel is wonderful because you can leave your car parked and just walk into town. It is located right behind the "mall" at stoplight 3a. They really need to think about remodeling the rooms a bit cosmetically...they have this corregated wood on several of the walls and on several of the buildings that makes it look a little cheaper than it has to; the restaurant was good at all, but we just felt sorry for it rather than mad, the bathrooms could use some upgrading and the parking....oh, the parking.... Due to it being Thanksgiving weekend, the parking lots were not so bad, but had it been a really packed weekend, the parking would be horrendous. The parking lot for the River Towers has this wall around it and the relatively small opening in which to angle your car just right to get through. They just need to take out 2 sections of this wall, and it would be much better. They have an outdoor pool, but it was covered due to winter season; so, I can't give an informative review of it. Overall, I'd give it a C+/B- rating, but if we wanted to stay downtown on River Road again, we might stay. It's not the best, but so many of those hotels on River Road are worse from the outside than this one, and the staff here is great; so, it would definitely not be crossed completely out. (oh, and they gave us 10% off our bill because of the room change!...that makes up for alot! :))

Room Tip: Rooms in River Tower overlook River Road and the river. I would only stay in the front 2 buildings.

Thank you very much for the fair and honest review of The River Terrace Resort and Convention Center. Our top priority is Customer Service and Guest Satisfaction, so it pleases me to hear the positive comments made of our Team doing everything possible to take care of you and ensure your stay is an enjoyable one.
Our property is on the older side, so we are always working to improve on cosmetics, but, one thing we are very proud of, is the fact we have the cleanest rooms in town and that is one thing our guests can always count on.
We look forward to seeing you again soon!

We were in for a family and friends weekend. The location of the hotel was so convenient to everything. The hotel was clean and our group had rooms all right together which was nice. The service provided by our hostest, Ms. Enola LImp and Travis made our weekend very enjoyable. They were both very accommodating and the conference room we used was very nicely decorated. We would definitely recommend the River Terrace Resort and Convention Center, and return ourselves! Thanks for a relaxing weekend.

“White Family Celebration 2011”

The River Terrace was the perfect meeting place for our family gathering to celebrate my Aunt's 50th Birthday and celebrate my other Aunts 139 lbs. of weight lose. We had a great group rate, the rooms were clean and well maintained. The breakfast was awesome $6.99+tax for a wonderful buffet. The host was very nice and had been at the hotel since 3am, I was a late arrival and he was there working then. One piece of advise for breakfast , don't charge $1.75 for ice water . Thank you for the freshly cooked eggs. Very pleasant attitude despite the fact he had very little sleep before breakfast time arrived. We had our birthday celebration in the convention center meeting room. My hostess was Enola Limp- great party planner, was more than helpful and very sweet personality. Her helper was Travis and he as extremely kind in helping setup and work the LCD projector for a test run. They were prompt and professional. Thank you to them both for making the special tables that really make the celebration fabulous!. The location was delightful to walk to the shops and attractions. We will be back. I highly recomment this location- if you have a celebration they have the banquet space to accommodate, give them a try. This is coming from a Hotel career person and I am pretty particular!

Room Tip: If you have folks that can't walk up and down a hill there is parking on the lower level too.
