I traveled on a impromptu trip to Gatlinburg on 2/18/11. This place is just up the hill on 321 and is an easy walk to everything. It is a good balance of distance to the action while being off the main drag. There were over 9000 high school kids here this weekend and this was a chance to get away.
My check-in was pleasant and the desk people were great. When I couldn't find the TV remote she left the office and walked another one to my room. Parking was easy. My room was in the building attached to the office (room 103) and was in a neat location and seemed very isolated and it was very quiet. If I had neighbors in 102 it would be great to hang out with them on the porch and enjoy a view of the trees. The WiFi worked great.
The room is not very big, just enough for a bed and a bathroom and a desk. It's a good size for a solo traveler or couple who travels light. The place seems slightly older but that made it more charming. It is not a run down property but if you'll find signs of wear if you look for them: sink stoppers missing, stains, dings in furniture.
I got this room for $53/night with a AAA discount so I'm pretty happy. I'll give this 4 stars because there are nicer places and there may be less expensive places (they would be scary) but this was a good balance of cheap and habitable. It's a good find if you are a cheapskate like me and not so critical of every little thing.
Hint: if you stay here and have to make a left turn into the hotel, turn left after the next building. You'll be driving backwards through the neighbor's lot but it's a safer left turn.
