“BEST in Gatlinburg!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011 via mobile

Our stay at Old Creek was wonderful! We arrived after 11pm on Thursday evening, and we could not have asked for a better greeting than the one we received by the gentleman at the front desk. I felt like he was welcoming us into his home. He talked to us about our trip, the hotel renovations, the upcoming parade- so friendly! He is a huge asset to this establishment!

Our room (2 double/jacuzzi) was beautiful, large, and immaculate. We woke up to find an excellent breakfast- waffle maker, pastries, biscuits/gravy and many other items to choose from. The location is also perfect- a quick walk to the parkway and easy access to the bypass.

My only complaint was the young girl at the counter (long hair, nose pierced). I had to go in the lobby to complain about not having any hot water. When I told her my problem, she put her head in her hands. I understand she was frustrated, but I was too. The problem was fixed within 5 minutes. She was so unfriendly every time I came into the lobby and when I went to check out- SHE is the only reason why I could only give Old Creek 4 stars.

We have recently stayed at the Bearskin and the Hilton, and Old Creek surpassed them both. This place is GREAT!

“Great stay at Old Creek Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at Old Creek Lodge after a couple of disasters in the last year or so with some of the old properties in downtown Gatlinburg. The room was clean and updated, the little balcony over the river was nice and the walk to everything downtown was not bad at all. The ladies at the reception desks were very nice. The breakfast that is included is OK but we prefer to eat breakfast at the pancake houses. Getting out in the cold and walking to those restaurants is part of the Gatlinburg appeal to us. We will certainly stay at Old Creek Lodge again as we usually travel to Gatlinburg at least once and sometimes more per year.

“Awesome stay at Old Creek Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

In my opinion, this is the best lodging in Gatlinburg. The location is great on River Road (near all the best restaurants) rates were very affordable, rooms were spotless, and all the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included in the price (biscuits & gravy, waffles, pastries, bagels, oatmeal, fruit), so that is another bonus for this establishment. The room was very clean and nicely decorated, and I especially liked the bathroom shower with a seat. All the rooms have a nice river view and also a view of the tram. We stayed in a cabin the first two nights because we wanted a rustic experience, but we could have saved a lot of money by staying here the entire time and still have the rustic atmosphere we were looking for. We will definitely choose this lodging for our next trip to Gatlinburg.

“Can't decide.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Old Creek Lodge and I can't really decide how I feel about it. So I'll give the good and the bad and let you decide yourself.

Pro's
Great Location-right near our favorite restraunts and has a nice view of the mountains, Ober Gatlinburg Tram and Creek below.

Room was clean and nicely updated-small bathroom but nicely updated as well.

Comfortable Beds, Nice Fireplace and the microwave and fridge were great to have.

Con's
You could hear everything going on in the rooms beside and above us. Kind of annoying, especially when your neighbors turn on their jacuzzi tub at 2 in the morning. I have a pretty active 3 year old so I can only imagine what they heard from our room too!

Our room seemed to always be hot. We were really looking forward to using our fireplace at night and we never got to turn it on. Even with our AC set on 63 our room was always warm. Made it kind of uncomftable at night.

The biggest issue I came across was the staff. This really suprises me since all of other reviews mentioned a great and helpful staff. We returned to the room late one night after being out all day and our smoke detector was beeping. I called the front desk and said i thought the battery was dead. The only options i was given was that I could go to a Convieniece Store myself and get a battery or they would move me to another room. It was 12:00 at night.....I would imagine a hotel would keep extra batteries on hand. I definitely didn't think I should be responsible for going to a gas station at 12 at night on my vacation to get batteries for my hotel room and a King Bed room was not going to work for us. Finally someone came up to our room to unhooked the alarm and told us someone would replace the battery and hook it back up in the am. That never happened. The more I think about this I kind of get more upset. I have a 3 year old....I'm in a hotel that has gas fireplaces and I have no Smoke or Carbon Monoxide detectors in my room. Not very safe!

Bottom line-we come to the area 2-3 times a year and really want to find somewhere we can call "home" when we visit. I was really hoping this would be the place. I just can't decide now!
