“Poor Customer Service”

This hotel is well located in Gatlinbug and is fine for an old and outdated place. The extremely rude and apathetic lady at the front desk has no business in the hospitality industry. She pretty much snarled at us through the check-in process and slapped a parking pass down and said to go put it in the car or it would be towed. It was more at her attitude than the actual words she used. The next night when we arrived back at the room, nothing had been done other than making the beds. dirty glasses were left untouched, no new coffee, the coffee pot residue remained, etc. When we called down to ask for these items, we're were told by the same rude lady that they just wiped out the coffee pots anyway and that we could do it ourselves. She also said we could come down and get some coffee if we wanted, but they didn't have any clean glasses. It was extremely cold while we were there and the heater struggled to keep up. I have not stayed elsewhere in Gatlinburg, but I would hope there are more hospitable places to stay.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize that you feel your concerns were not addressed to your satisfaction by the front desk. The guest's room (#234) had a "do not disturb" on the door beyond 5PM when the Executive Housekeeper checked and logged it for the last time that day. Room cleaners do not enter rooms that display a "do not disturb" Had there not been a "do not disturb", the room would have been thoroughly cleaned including coffee pot, glasses (taken to the hotel kitchen and cleaned in the dishwasher), beds made, floor vacuumed, bathroom cleaned, coffee would have been refreshed, etc. Unfortunately, we do not keep glasses at front desk, however, they have styrofoam cups if needed. We have shared your comments with departments heads and staff.

“Very long in the tooth, but OK I guess”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This is NOT a 3-star caliber hotel. Not even 2 1/2. I would say it is a 2-star property, on par with a Days Inn or a Best Western.

- Property has not been updated since the mid-70s (except the groovy pool and waterfall). We were given 4 rooms (in a virtually empty hotel) before we found one that was clean and everything worked (lights, TV, fireplace). About 1/2 mile off the main Gatlinburg drag.

- Rooms are very, very basic and all furniture and fixtures are very dated. Clean enough, I guess. We had a tiny balcony that looked out to the parking lot and street. We were told to turn on hot water and wait 15 minutes for it to arrive. Gaslog fireplace in room. Tall ceilings, fairly big for a hotel room. (OLD) table and chairs. TV. Coffeemaker. No fridge or microwave. Bathroom amenities (soap, etc.) were so awful they would do better without. Old, stiff, flat, small, tired towels. Aforementioned hot water issue.

- Service is DEFINITELY not 3-star. Not rude, but very brusk and unpolished. Nary an apology for the 3 partially-broken rooms. No bellman, no help with bags, no concierge, no staff to speak of other than front desk.

There have to be 50,000 hotel rooms in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. PLENTY of comparable properties for far, far cheaper. Thank goodness I got this deal on priceline, because if I had paid full price for this room I would have had a fit.

“Instead of Customer Service it should be Customer Assault”

I recently stayed at this hotel during a business trip. The person I was traveling with told me of an unpleasing experience he recently had with two ladies who work at the check in counter. Sure enough, I was treated very rudely by one of the ladies, very short and negative attitude. I complained to the manager the next day upon check out, he acted like he knew exactly what I was talking about.
I don't go somewhere to be treated in an unfriendly manner, if you are in the customer service business and you don't like people, maybe you should change jobs. This hotel isn't anything grand to start with, the conference I attended was held there. I will not stay there again, this company will not send anymore money there,

“Not bad for the age of the hotel”

We stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were basically clean, carpets clean and bathroom clean with no mold in our rooms. We had rented two. The televisions were small and not many channels to choose from. We had "pool" rooms and the waterfall noise made it enjoyable to sleep. They do have "smoking" rooms. I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. The pool area was clean and the wi-fi seemed to be working in that area. Picnic pavilion was nice and right on the stream out back. Courteous staff. Would stay again. Great price on the rooms.

Room Tip: Ask if you can see the rooms before paying for the rest of the trip. Our room was nice, the beds wer...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Our housekeepers strive to keep our rooms very clean. We are glad you enjoyed the pool area and that it provided an enjoyable sleep. We provide TV channels that are family friendly and viewable by all. The Riverdeck Pavilion is a great location to have a cookout or have fun on the open lawn area or at the outdoor pool. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

“Conference with family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The pool was awesome for the kids. They had a shallow little kids part and the upper pool was 9 feet deep and WARM! I loved it! While I was at a conference, my husband and kids hung out at the pool. This hotel was handy to everything. We didn't really need to use our car. It wasn't the fanciest hotel ever, but it was good for the price. It was kind of weird that the rooms don't come with a microwave or refridgerator. You could ask for them. There were none left by the time I asked. If those are a must, I would go elsewhere. We had to pay for breakfast which was very nice. We had read that in other reviews so weren't surprised. It was fine because you could certainly go to one of the many other breakfast options in town if you wanted to. Would definately stay here again.

Thank you for staying with us during your conference. We are happy that you and your family enjoyed the pool, it is awesome. We are glad you liked the location as we are within an easy walk to the Convention Center and the main street of town. The hotel does provide a fridge in our Creekside rooms, as well as our poolside rooms. There are microwave stations available close to most rooms. Our breakfast buffet offers many different options, from cooked to order omelets and waffles, to bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, biscuits and gravy, as well as cereal, and yogurt, all at a very reasonable price comparable to any other sit down restaurant in town. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
