First off let me say that we dealt with Anne to book our trip and she is very nice. The first weekend we had originally planned on staying, our 4 year old daughter got put in the hospital and she was very nice and helpful to change our date to the next weekend. Check in was easy and pretty quick. Now...to the review. Anne gave us a paper that had directions to the cabin and told us to reset and watch our mileage carefully as these were exact directions. We followed the road to our cabin however many miles the paper said from the red light and it took us to NO WHERE. We turned around and had to find the road ourself. So we find the cabin and the lock box for the key and like to NEVER got the lock box open. Once inside, our first impression was nice. The cabin was very pretty and at first glance appeared nice. We go to turn on the gas fireplace inside and its easy...lights right up. Outside by hottub, couldnt for the life of us get it to light. Flipped on porch light over hottub and the light blows. So I called the service number. Message says if EMERGENCY only to leave message, if not emergency they charge a $75 fee. I told them I felt as if this was an emergency because we only had 2 nights to spend there and we wanted lights on porch and fireplace ON outside. Maintenance guy talks us through the steps to finally getting the fireplace lit, and tells us someone would be out the next day to change the SUPER high lightbulb over hottub. NO ONE ever showed. I put my daughter in the jacuzzi to take a bath and play AFTER I had to scrub the jacuzzi down and wash it out. While she's in it playing she wanted the jets on, BIG MISTAKE! Black stuff came flying out of the jets and floating around in the tub. I got her out fast and cleaned the tub again. We didnt turn the jets back on! My husband showered in the bathroom bathtub/shower and the shower curtain and bathtub were yuck! There were/are cob webs hanging from the ceilings in the bathrooms. Went to the kitchen to cook supper and EVERY SINGLE DISH we pulled out had to be scrubbed washed before using. They had dried on food stuck to them. Pots, plates, cups, silverware, pans...everything! Our white socks were FILTHY from walking on the floors without shoes. I took pictures of the floors as they didnt look like they had even been swept or mopped in a year! Nasty food stuck and dried to floors, crumbs everywhere, DIRTY SOCK under kitchen table, rugs in kitchen were filthy with food and gunk and rugs by bathtub were dingy and nasty looking! We thought that it was absurd that we had to pay a cleaning fee for our cabin to be "cleaned" after we left when it was not even clean when we got there. If nothing else, they should have payed us because we actually cleaned stuff and left it in better shape then when we got there! The bed sheets had holes in them and stains. The comforters were freshly stained (meaning NOT attempted to clean at all) and very old and dingy looking! DIRTY! The mattresses slept terrible...guess they were cheap hotel mattresses!
The blinds were nasty, especially in the kitchen they are disgusting!!! The carnival towels were cute but the cleaning lady really needs to spend LESS time folding towels and MORE time actually CLEANING! I would much rather have a nice clean place to lay my head then a cute folded towel. We were constantly staying on our 4 year old and 1 year old to STAY OFF THE FLOOR because they were getting filthy! Also, we tried to have a family movie night and went to put a dvd in the ONLY dvd player in the cabin and there were no cords running from the dvd player to the TV so we could not watch a movie. So then we attempted to play a puzzle that was in the cabin and it didnt have but maybe 1/3 of the pieces to it. But there was a case with chess and checkers in it. Too bad our 4 year old doesnt know how to play checkers. So all that was left to do was shoot some pool on the filthy pool table. The couch looked like someone had spilled some milk or something white down it. The couch was also terribly uncomfortable! There was internet but not WIFI so with 2 laptops with us, only 1 person could be on the internet. The TV didn't work half the time we were there either, but there were TV's in the bedrooms. They should provide the option for a Highchair or something for families that travel with babies! America's Cabins also list on their website UNDER AMENITIES - an indoor pool and bowling alley at the Community Center. Amenities are something that is PROVIDED! What they failed to mention is that you have to PAY to enter the community center and PAY to swim. Had I known that right off the bat I would have chosen a different cabin rental company that DID provide an indoor pool WITH THE PRICE OF THE CABIN!
We did not call and complain because of the nonemergency $75 fee to call, we knew they wouldn't do anything about it but apologize and an apology wasn't going to clean that place up! We also DID chose to stay an extra night because my hubby got off work for MLK day and we were already there and unpacked. We tried to spend as much time away from the cabin as possible, although we had originally planned on relaxing at the cabin. When booking I was also givin the option to pay for 2 nights and get the 3rd free but didnt think we would be able to stay that long. When I called to extend by one night I asked for the free night since we payed for the first 2. I was told that that was no longer an option since we had already checked in. Why not? 6 in one or half a dozen in the other.....WE STILL PAYED OUR 2 NIGHTS!!!! They said because they gave us a "special discounted rate" But thats funny, because its the same rate posted on their website that EVERYONE gets. WHATEVER!
We will not use this company again nor will we recommend it to anyone! I suppose this is why they do not have the option to leave a review on their website....they know!
