If you want to stay someplace fancy, this is not it. However, the cabins are located on the bluff right off Hwy 61 before you get to Grand Marais and have an excellent view of Lake Superior from your deck. The cabin was tiny, but comfortable. There was a queen size bed, a couch, a small dining table, a small tv in the corner, and enough of a kitchenette to make a few small meals. The room was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. Out on the deck, there was a table and chairs, where we spent most of our evenings playing Boggle. They also provide places for an outdoor fire. The cabin we were in was on the very end and there was a small pit on some rocks. There was also a picnic table there for our convenience.
This is a very small place, not fancy, but the price is excellent, especially for your own cabin right outside of Grand Marais. At first I thought we would not spend much time there because it was so small, but we actually ended up spending a good portion of our time out on the deck or enjoying the view of the sun rising over Lake Superior from our bed! At night, the moon reflected off of Lake Superior and was so gorgeous!
Not only that, but our hosts were generous and friendly as well. They live in a really nice renovated house just down the hill from the cabins. They were available, friendly, and accomodating. We did not arrive until late our first night and we called and she left the keys in the cabin for us. What a great experience!
