If you want a couple of days or a week, this is the place to go. We have only been there in the winter months, once in March and the last one this December, but we have no doubt that it is great no matter what the weather. Secluded, comfortable, great scenery, wonderful skiing and hiking and even dog sled rides. Also, pet friendly! We had one of the romantic cabins and it was fantastic. Fed and watched the pine grosbeaks, chickadees, blue jays, gray jays, red squirrels and deer. The huge windows were great for bird watching. Didn't have enough snow to ski this last time we went, but were able to hike most trails and worked up quite an appetite. The lodge has great food...have only had lunch and appetizers so far, but heard the breakfasts were very hearty and good too. Very good naturalist program also. We went on an animal footprint hike through the woods and learned lots of interesting, historical facts about the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly and took care of all of our needs. It takes a little bit to get there, but well worth the trip. Can't wait to go back!

They definitely take care of you here! Gunflint trail area is one of the most beautiful areas of the country, summer or winter. The lodge has a lot of amazing history to it. Stayed in the winter and classic skied most of their own trails during the day. They have plenty of trail so you can get a few unique rides in right out of your cabin - they even fixed us bag lunches. Plus they have shelters and the trails are well-marked. The lodge is a great spot to grab a beer and the food is all very good. Had a lot of fun with the bartender and staff. Saw and heard timber wolves a few times over the few days we were there too! And obviously there is plenty of deer around. The cabins are more than comfortable. Hot tub, sauna, comfy living room with fireplace, it was one of the best weeks of the year for us!

Another wonderful experience at Gunflint Lodge! The cabin was immaculate, huge and so comfortable! The dining experience as always was delicious and first rate. And, of course, the service is what sets this place apart! From the front desk to the dining room to housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful time! Nothing is better than pulling up to the lodge with the snow falling the xmas lights twinkling and the peace and quiet of the most beautiful place you could only imagine. If you need a getaway to "disconnect" from the real world.... this is the ONLY place. you dont miss the television or the cell phones, if necessary you can get wi-fi in the main lodge. The cabins are so warm and inviting everyone affiliated with the lodge puts their hearts into what they do and make you feel like you are the only guest there. My family LOVES this place and continue to make it our only place to EVER stay on the trail.... you are missing out if you dont take the opportunity to experience this place.
