We stayed at The Annie Mae Lodge for one week. It was an awesome experience. We were in Gustavus for a family wedding. What an experience it was we were greeted by the owners Leslie and Richard, we were treated royally every day we were there, these gracious owners were there every day to be sure the "King's Castle" was perfect in every way. The first evening our daughter and son inlaw joined us for dinner, the chef came to our table after we had eaten to be sure that every one's dinner was perfect, it was so good that my husband shared his port (we hand carried it with us from California) and Corona. All of the meals were outsanding, the service beyond belief, I don't remember ever staying any place where all the breads were made in the morning for that days meals, bag lunches were available if you had the need because you were going whale watching or bird watching, fishing or what ever the day held for you. Bikes were available in all sizes for your use. My daughter and I were making the wedding cake (300 or so people live in Gustavus) for 300 people. We were very busy during the day baking for two days and decorating for one day, going back to AML in the eveing where it was quiet no phones ringing or radio's or televisions blaring it was a retreat for us, in the morning we woke to the chirping of birds. The day of the wedding we ran short of table cloths for the reception which was held at the parents of the brides home, guess who came thru, yep AML. The rates are very reasonable only $140.00 a day. Housekeeping was wonderful, while we ate breakfast our room was cleaned and ready for us when we returned. This would be a great place for a retreat, or a family reunion, actually there was a family of 18 there to celebrate Great Grandpa's birthday, 5 generations were attending..The gounds are beautiful. If ever you find a need for this kind of retreat remember to try The Annie Mae Lodge.
