“Weekend in Brooklyn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Spent the weekend at the Marriott while visiting friends who live in Brooklyn. Nice rooms with comfy beds and high quality linens. Staff was friendly and service was very good. We didn't spend much time at the hotel but did have drinks and appetizers in the lounge both evenings. The wine list was decent and the food was above average for hotel-fare. Close to the subway station and some shops and restaurants. Easy to hop a cab to Manhattan. We would definitely stay there again on a future trip.

“A great place to stay”

It is a pleasure to stay at the Marriott New York at the Brooklyn Bridge. The service, rooms, and view (if you get a room on the high floors) are great. I am in NYC for a few days almost every month, and this is beginning to feel like home. This would normally be a solid four to five rating, but the exceptional support provided by Marie Gross at the front desk definitely makes it a five.

“Large rooms, accommodating service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

It's hard to believe you're in New York City when you step into a room at the Marriott New York at the Brooklyn Bridge. The rooms are the size of normal hotel rooms! In NYC that's nothing short of a miracle. Mind you, they're nothing to write home about, but space to move about is definitely not something you expect in New York. The staff was very accommodating, especially the sweet concierge who walked me to a skybridge to give me "visual directions" after i told her I was map-reading challenged and the wonderful bellman who worked on my transportation issues after my flight was cancelled. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but I did attend meetings that were catered by the hotel, and the food was much better than one normally expects at a hotel "function" dinner. Although the name of the hotel would have you think that you're at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge facing the river and Manhattan, that's not the case. You'll walk a couple of blocks to reach the pedestrian walkway to cross the bridge. I understand that some rooms have views of the bridge. Mine didn't, but I was working so it didn't matter. The subway is a three minute walk, and you can take the A Train right into Manhattan for easy access to Penn Station, Broadway, Times Square, etc. Do ask for a high floor if you're bothered by street noise.

“Everything you don't expect in a NY hotel”

NYC is famous for postage stamp hotel rooms and unfriendly people. Brooklyn Bridge Marriott turns that preconception on its head. Everyone I dealt with was focused on making sure I was happy. My company reserved a room with 2 doubles but I was with my wife so I asked for a room with a king and got a suite with lots of space. The door man directed me to Montague Street, a brownstone lined streets with many restaurants ending at the promenade overlooking lower Manhattan. We mistakenly left some items in the room and the friendly maid service solved the problem asap. On the way out the wait staff was cleaning up from lunch and were wheeling out the leftovers. As they passed us dragging our carryons they pulled some waters out and said 'would you like a water for the road?; My wife said this was not what she expected in NYC. I saw that JAL & Lufthansa house their crews here, which is a good sign. They must have a fantastic manager to have everyone be so focused on the customer experience. As someone born in Brooklyn, Marriott BB made me proud of what the NYC experience can and should be. Best Marriott I ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Our suite included a very big bedroom and a nice living room separated by French doors. Three sets o...

“Loved the stay”

We were greeted by Marriott employee Jeffrey C. who was simply the best. Upon learning that we were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday, we were put into a truly superior accommodation. Thanks to Jeffrey and the rest of the staff, the Brooklyn Marriott will be on our list of favorite hotels to revisit.
