It's hard to believe you're in New York City when you step into a room at the Marriott New York at the Brooklyn Bridge. The rooms are the size of normal hotel rooms! In NYC that's nothing short of a miracle. Mind you, they're nothing to write home about, but space to move about is definitely not something you expect in New York. The staff was very accommodating, especially the sweet concierge who walked me to a skybridge to give me "visual directions" after i told her I was map-reading challenged and the wonderful bellman who worked on my transportation issues after my flight was cancelled. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but I did attend meetings that were catered by the hotel, and the food was much better than one normally expects at a hotel "function" dinner. Although the name of the hotel would have you think that you're at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge facing the river and Manhattan, that's not the case. You'll walk a couple of blocks to reach the pedestrian walkway to cross the bridge. I understand that some rooms have views of the bridge. Mine didn't, but I was working so it didn't matter. The subway is a three minute walk, and you can take the A Train right into Manhattan for easy access to Penn Station, Broadway, Times Square, etc. Do ask for a high floor if you're bothered by street noise.
