“6 of one....half dozen of another.”

The good:
The service was fine, they even had my room ready an hour early for me. It was clean, room and hotel (what I have seen). I am very picky about cleanliness, so this really mattered to me. The place is actually a little better than I expected inside, well maintained, nice sized tv in my room, wifi, good a/c and heat. Coffee maker, free breakfast, telephone, ice machine in the kitchenette on the first floor, elevator.

The Bad:
This area sucks so much....there are not even words for it. I had two nights between apartments and just needed a crash pad, so it's no major deal to me, but a tourist would not like it here. Even if there were a point to going outside and walking around this area, you could not pay me to do it after dark alone. I almost did not mention the noisy subway next door because...it is a normal NYC sound. I get so tired of hearing people say it is noisy in NYC, well duh! If you are a light sleeper, use earplugs, easy. Or you can spend extra money, lots of time searching for that perfect quiet place......then I want to be there when the fire trucks go by at 4am. ;)

Just my opinion: If this place were sitting in a livable area, it would be worth twice what they charge or more. Tourists have no business out here, suck it up and take a dive hotel in Manhattan, especially if traveling alone or with just two of you.

“Don't let your imagination run wild”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

After reading the many reviews that warned of staying away from this hotel due to its location and threat to personal safety, I was ready to cancel my non-refundable one night payment (I booked via a third-party website). Yes, this hotel is in Brooklyn and is boxed in by Atlantic Ave and the LIRR railroad tracks so its not an ideal location, but at no point did I fear for my life. The subway does run about 10 feet away from the side of the building, but after the first train passed by, I never noticed the other ones. If you don't want to use the pedestrian tunnel (which is right in front of the hotel) to get to the Atlantic Ave subway station, I suggest walking 500 feet north to the Broadway Junction station.

Simply put: the rooms are clean, the hotel is still newish, the breakfast was great, the staff friendly, its only a 20-30 minute ride into Manhattan. You're probably considering this hotel because you want to save money. The quality exceeds what you pay (for NY). I'll admit, a person who stays here should be a little bit adventurous. Just arrive during daylight so your immagination won't run wild and scare you away.

“Stay at your own risk....,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

Warning do not stay at this hotel
The hotel itself is not bad, with a small lobby, but when we saw that the concierge was behind a very thick glass, and locked inside, make us wonder why? There is also a reason the photo goes vertical and does not show the buildings on either side.
The rumble and whine of train every 15 minutes....The hotel is next to a (very noisy above ground) train station. Beware park your car at your own risk....no security guard, hotel is in the middle of nowhere. police car permantly on the corner of the road outside the hotel and around the corner near the subway. Customer service is a foreign language, it is an Indian run hotel. We were with a large group. There were also bed bugs found in some of the rooms.

“Quality Inn: As long as you stay in, you'll get your quality.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

Well, first of all, if you have never driven through Brooklyn, and become frustrated easily in chaotic traffic, I would STRONGLY advise that you take a cab or train for your own well-being. And the parking lot has only a dozen parking spaces or so for those that do decide to drive.
The Quality Inn is pretty difficult to mistake for anything else. It is definitely the highest-quality building within at least a 3 mile radius. The room we stayed in was small, but definitely cozy. The free services we received included cable,Wi-Fi, and a continental breakfast (which we unfortunately missed). There was also a coffee maker in the room with complementary coffee grounds included. This would really come in handy if you are a light-sleeper, because you'll be up all night listening to the elevated trains go by if that's the case.
The Inn itself was nice, minus the occasional smell of cigarettes from one of the smoking rooms. Honestly though, I can't really blame them for smoking inside. If you've never spent any time in Brooklyn before, I would strongly advise that you keep all of your night activities in your room. The entire area surrounding the hotel was extremely shady, I honestly wouldn't recommend walking anywhere after dark. If you must, go with a group of people and have at least one male in the group. But trust me, once you get back to that hotel, you'll really understand what kind of Quality you'll be getting there.
Oh, and if you should happen to bump into a man a few blocks down from the hotel named Smalls, and he keeps insisting that you come into his apartment just for 10 minutes to smoke that "Sour Piff" with him and his buddies, be sure to use your better judgment on that one.
