“Try somewhere else”

-Guy at reception tried to rip us off the price. Saw website price and he demanded $20 over that. I showed him the priceline cost with my phone and only then did he agree to lower rate.
-No hot water in the morning! It doesn't take much to satisfy me but hot water is a must. It was cold only. Not even warm.
-Smells clean, but it isn't. Hairball....

“One of those with the train on the backyard...”

Everything about this hotel was not that bad for the price and Brooklyn location. Except just 1 "little" thing: there is a train on the backyard that they forgot to advertise. Rooms and beds are fine size for NY, parking possible and if you're lucky even available in front of the building for free. Breakfast included. So ong story sort - not that bad overall, just make sure they will have front facing rooms before booking. You will have a few garbage trucks and maybe even fire trucks if you "lucky" waking you up (hotel faces the fire dept.) , but you will be able to fall asleep unlike with the "train room"

Room Tip: Front facing room.

“Great value for money.”

I arrived at the Days Inn Brooklyn at around 1am after a long flight from LA. I was quickly and efficiently checked in and given a nice room on the top floor. I was travelling with two large suitcases, so was greatful for the lift and ample space in the room.

The TV, coffee machine and small bar fridge where all new and worked well. The sheets and towels were clean and changed daily and soap, shampoo and lotion provided. In the room I stayed, the shower/tub faucet was one of the newer ones where, once you have the water running, you have to pull down on the circle where the water comes out of to get it to change from tub to shower. I had never seen this before in the many hotels I've stayed and had to get housekeeping to show me how to work it (something others have since told me they struggled with also)!

The location was fantastic, only a few short blocks from the subway. I didn't spend a lot of time exploring the immediate area, but it always seemed safe no matter what time of day or night. The hotel wasn't really surrounded by much else (restaurants, shops, etc), but these were all just a short subway ride away. There was only limited parking out front, though this wasn't a problem for me.

The complimentary breakfast was simple but adequate. The front desk staff were helpful with directions and arranged for a car to take me to the airport on my departure.

“Magical Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

My friend and I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and found the room very comfortable and beyond the standard expected for the price. Had a difficulty with the shower at first but was rectified by the management quickly and politely. The reception staff were very helpful and even arranged a taxi for us at 6 in the morning. Breakfast room is small and on some mornings there were not enough seats. Free wifi was very useful. Least liked was the lift which is small and slow.

Room Tip: Front of hotel rooms overlook the fire station.
