“Feels like living in New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We stayed for 7 days in the red apartment and i feld like i had lived here in an former life.

It's a very comfortable place and Shala, the host of the guest house, tried everything to make our stay a real pleasure.
The location lies in an industrial looking but safe place of brooklyn and we didn't feel like tourist but rather than locals.

The neighborhood has very nice restaurants (e.g. "Sidecar"), coffee shops (e.g. "Four and tweentie blackbirds") and is a short 5 minute walk from the next subway station (4th Ave/9th Street).

I really like the charm of Brooklyn and will definitely come back here again.

“Charming sanctuary in Brooklyn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

I stayed in the Aqua Room - top floor for almost two weeks this summer. The space is lovely - open, light, and quiet. It also has air conditioning which was a tremendous relief during the heat wave.

After long days working in Manhattan, the guest house was like a wonderful sanctuary. We spent many evenings in the Park Slope area - lots of great restaurants around - feels like the West Village of Brooklyn. The park itself is also nice for long walks.

Shahla is lovely - helpful, kind and respectful.

I highly recommend it! I will stay there again when the opportunity arises.

“Comfortable home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

My wife and I were first drawn to Celeste Guest House because of its proximity (one block) to our daughter’s apartment, but after we arrived it was obvious that there were other good reasons to stay there. We stayed in the “Red” apartment on the second floor. It is a comfortable apartment with a large living room/kitchenette combination, a separate cozy but adequate bedroom and a bath. Shahla gave us a warm welcome upon our arrival late the first night and was attentive, but not intrusive during our entire stay. Her husband David repaired our malfunctioning television as soon as we requested his help. The neighborhood is not as upscale as Park Slope adjacent to Prospect Park, but it is quiet, comfortable, and within easy walking distance of restaurants, clubs and at least three subway lines. We walked home quite late on multiple evenings and always felt safe. We are already trying to find space on our calendar for another visit this summer to visit our daughter and of course, stay at Celeste Guest House.

“Home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

Our stay at Celeste during October was great - we rented out the two suites that they have as we were a group of five girlfriends. The accomodation was comfortable, spacious, there are extra towels and bedding if you need it. Brooklyn has loads to offer if you don't want to go into Manhattan. It was our first time to NY and we felt safe in the neighbourhood, it was also quiet at night. Once we had sorted out the subway, which is a 5min walk,(watch the routes at the week-end as sometimes they work on the lines) it was a 20 min ride into Manhattan.
Shala is a great host, she answered all our queries with great patience and catered to our requests without a blink - she is there if you need her but never in your way (if you get what I mean)she also has a helpful file full of information on restaurants, bars, local businesses, taxis etc. in the apartment. We can especially recommend Continental cars for rides into Manhattan and airport, their prices are good. New York has so much to offer and we would be really happy to return to Celeste if we make it back some day.

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2010

My partner and I stayed here for a week, and would definitely stay again. We were in the Aqua apt, on the top floor, and it was a very cosy, clean, and welcoming space. It was also very warm, which was much appreciated given the sub-zero temperatures outside! The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower fabulous. Location-wise it was good - close to the metro, so very easy to get into Manhattan, and also within walking distance of the shops on 5th and 7th Aves, plus Smith Street if you fancy crossing the canal. Shahla is a fantastic and very friendly host, with loads of useful tips and advice if required; she also left pastries for our arrival, and provisions in the fridge, plus some extra gifts for new year. All in all, we highly recommend it!
