First off, I am a local resident and my family was looking for adjoining two rooms for an overnight stay. We booked the rooms around mid-September and the rooms had been somewhat reduced because of the high season was near expiration. However, I still think the price was rather spendy considering what we got. The rooms were small with the basic amentities. Also, the elevators were located in an area that was right in the middle of where you would run into the hotel staff coming and going. So I did not necessarily want to pass through the housekeeper staff everytime we left and/or returned to the hotel. On the positive, the hotel is located near the downtown area and you are close enough to walk to the city centre where you will find some restaurants, the bus depot and interesting shops. Another positive is that the rooms were very clean. I did not find any unwanted bugs, etc. So I would recommend staying if you are interested in staying in a nice/clean but plain/overpriced hotel.

I needed a hotel for one night this summer and chose the Westmark because of it's location, being able to walk to downtown and it was the most inexpensive on-line rate that I found. A private shuttle charges around $10.00 to get you from the airport to the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and my location was quiet, but nothing special. I did not eat in the restaurant. I would stay there again, mainly because of the low rate and clean room. I don't think the walk to downtown is that far for me. Remember it does not get dark in Fairbanks in the summer. The front desk staff was friendly.

Nothing spectacular at the Westmark. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The walls are a little thin. Service was so-so.

This hotel is a poor relation to its Anchorage counterpart. Its location is downtown but some distance from the city centre requiring a good 15 minute walk in such a small city. The hotel is the largest conference facility in town so be prepared; this applies for the restaurant and reception both requiring patience.. Equally it caters for tour groups. Our room was on the small size, unbelievably hot on arrival with no exterior windows to open and lighting was dim. However, staff were very helpful.
