My husband and I had the pleasure of staying 4 nights with Dale and Jo in September. This B&B is beautiful! The house sits on top of a hill and overlooks the Chena River in the distance…an absolutely gorgeous setting. We were visiting Fairbanks especially for the Aurora Borealis. Unfortunately, it didn’t appear during our visit but it would have been easily viewed from this location. Even though it is a business, Jo and Dale were very professional but, at the same time, provided a warm, cozy and friendly atmosphere. They felt our disappointment in not seeing the Aurora Borealis and kept providing encouraging words about the possible opportunities of seeing it the next night.
Our flight into Fairbanks was delayed 6 hours and, when we arrived at the B&B at 1 a.m., there was ice cream in the freezer as a “Hello”. That was just the beginning of a wonderful ‘visit’ with these owners. They went out of their way to be helpful.
We stayed in the Jacquard Room which was well appointed and very comfortable. The bed was amazing! The breakfasts that Jo prepared for us were outstanding…quiche, frittata, apple tart, etc. She made more food for us than we could eat and it was all delicious!
Jo was extremely helpful in helping us plan our day with fun activities even though we were on the cusp of winter and a lot of the attractions were closed. We knew this…we came for the Northern Lights. She provided a thermal bag so we could pack our lunch and towels for our trip to the Chena Hot Springs. Having stayed in mostly B&B’s for the past few years and being a former travel agent, we appreciated the quality and care that Jo and Dale put into every little detail. It was so quiet and peaceful here.
The only ‘bad’ thing about this B&B is that we probably will not visit Alaska again and we won’t see Jo and Dale. It seemed like we were leaving old friends the day we left for home! We will definitely recommend this B&B to any of our friends and family who are thinking of an Alaskan vacation…our time here couldn’t have been better!
Thank you, Dale and Jo…we enjoyed ourselves tremendously…keep in touch!
