I've stayed at the GoldRush Inn many times, most likely about 300 nights or so over the last five years. You get what you pay for, bottom line. It's run by the military and they are not out to make a profit. I actually know quite a few people that have worked there and they are basically just scrapping by. They are providing a service for you.
Stay in town if you want, but if you can I would stay at the Goldrush if you are working on Eielson.
In the Summer any hotel, even the crappy Super 8 in town which I've stayed at and is worse than the Goldrush, is at least $180.00. The Sprinhill Suites in the Summer is $250.00.
The Goldrush is $28.00. It's not as bad as the other person makes it sound.
