I do like 45 nights a year in hotels, most Choice Hotels, and I was blown away by this Clarion Inn. The attached night club worried me about noise, but I had no problems and there was a pretty good band playing. The staff was super nice, and the room was an awesome value (king room). It's the old-style external entry doors, but it's a nice area with everything around (hotels, restaurants, fuel, etc). Easily worth 50% more than I paid for the room on a Saturday night.

It's not a horrible hotel. It's not a hotel at all. Every room is outside. You are not INside the hotel. It's more like a motel. It's OLD.. scary when you first pull up to the front, but pretty decent once you enter the interior. The person who took my reservation over the phone told me I would have a flat screen plasma TV. NOPE... old television with lots of snow.

Okay... here is the good: Nice sized frig, microwave oven, double sink outside of the bathroom, air and heat, vending machines inside the hotel, a breezeway that leads to the hotel lobby, a bar/club, restaurant, exercise room, indoor pool which was pretty nice, and an outside pool that was equally nice and overlooks the Holiday Inn express. Pretty nice atmosphere this far...

The bad: The restaurant is a bit pricey for an older place...but on a nice day there are places to eat all over this area. The power is extremely unstable, and the hotel does not have a generator OR a manager on duty. The girl at the front desk was VERY sweet and tried to be very helpful, as best she could. It's not the hotel that has unstable power, but the area. During Hurricane Irene we came here and traveled 125 miles to avoid the power outages and the wind. There was NO wind in Fredricksburg. The rain was a normal heavy downfall...the kind we see as normal. My neighbors at home called to tell us our power was on and stayed on...but this hotel lost power for half the day and most of the night. NO wind and normal rain...sigh.

Never again.

We stayed here one night on way to DE. It served it's purpose, a bed and shower. It's located right of I-95 so good location. It was clean and comfortable. Furniture updated. Bed comfortable. Clean. They offer complimentary buffet breakfast in am. We peeked at it but passed. Biscuits and gravy an
scrambled eggs is all I remember
seeing. I am health conscious so not for me. We recommend this hotel.

Its an ok hotel for the price. My first room smelled like cat urine, but they gave me a new room right away after I went to the front desk. Pool was ok. The hot tub was not hot though. Its a very convenient location right off of 95. Would I stay here again...maybe. Like I said...good for a one night stay not a week long vacation.
