“Convenient and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed here for an unexpectedly long fortnight. It was very convenient to walk to Harvard Medical School area and even though I (as a girl) was walking back from lab by myself after mid-night each night there was no sign of danger. Beds (I switched between a few rooms because of my schedule changes) and restrooms are clean and relatively comfortable. Nice breakfast selection with bagels, cereal, coffee, tea, yogurt, a home-made cake, and fresh fruits. It does seem a bit old and oddly decorated with squeaky floors. But, if you don't mind these little flaws, this is overall a good place to stay. Oh, and the manager was very helpful in terms of extending my stay multiple times despite of all my short notices.

Room Tip: Second floor would be more quiet.

“"o.k. but not great"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

The price was good, so I shouldn't complain. But compared to a slightly more expensive B&B I've stayed at in Brookline, this was less enjoyable. I stayed here twice, so two rooms. Both were very hot, due to a single heating system, so I had to have the windows open all the time, which meant more noise. The larger and more expensive room had 2 chests, but no closet or table/desk, only a rack with some hangers (and no skirt or pants hanger, so these kept slipping off). The less expensive one had what looked somewhat like a dentist chair taking up one corner of what was small room anyway. I arrived after the staff person had left, and the TV didn't work (low signal); in the morning he thought a connection might be loose somewhere in the system. .The breakfast is limited--china plates but plastic spoons, two types of boxed cereal (no granola or muesli), a v. limited selection of fruit. I found the 2nd staff member friendly and helpful, the first one not so much. Lastly, if you come after hours, there's no one there to help with the luggage--so to go to the lst room, I had to carry two suitcases up to the third floor (steep stairs), and I'm 72.

Room Tip: If you're coming after hours and are elderly, don't get a third floor room. Unless you are o...

“We enjoyed our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

This bed & breakfast is homey, clean, and comfortable. The staff people were welcoming and helpful, offering us information about local attractions. The house itself is a fascinating old Victorian located in Brookline, close to public transportation, restaurants, and many interesting shops. Breakfasts included bagels, cereal, fruit & juice, and coffee. We would certainly stay here the next time we're in Boston.

“"great weekend getaway"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

My daughter and I found this great victorian bed and breakfast! It had a warm, friendly atmosphere. Staff was great. Beds were comfortable and the place was clean. Lots of little antiques and unique decorating. We found some great little shops nearby. They served fresh bagels, coffee and fruit in the morning. Very nice. Would definately come back again!

“Great little spot in the City!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

So glad to have found this little gem in Brookline! I travel for business a fair amount, and love when I can find such homey places in bigger cities to rest my head for a night or two. The staff was totally accommodating to my lack of public transportation knowledge (I'm from Los Angeles) and helped me get around the city and find interesting sites to see in my free time. I didn't have a car with me, but it seems like from what I could tell in being there that they have a pretty efficient system in terms of working around what looked to be a problem with the city- not for a lack of trying themselves. Breakfast was delicious, Bed was comfortable- would definitely stay here again!
