“Adequate and convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

A reasonably priced comfortable room in a handsome old townhouse which was in a convenient location for our visit. Nothing to rave about - the absence of a common room made it impossible to meet our friends there - and no real breakfast offerings because no place to sit.

“I'll Be Back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

I stayed at the 1750 Beacon Inn and enjoyed my time there. The location was great, just steps away from the subway which allowed me to get to downtown Boston in just minutes. The inn itself is in a very quiet, safe neighborhood and the building itself has a lot of old world charm. The room I stayed in was clean, comfortable and came with wireless internet. The people on staff were helpful, they answered any questions I had and gave me recommendations of what to do when I had downtime. I feel like some of the reviews on here are a bit harsh, if you expecting the Waldorf Astoria, this isn't your place, but if you're looking for a comfortable place, off the beaten path then this is where you want to stay. I had a great time and will come back next time I'm in Boston.

“Avoid ... Do not Stay Here!!!”

I rarely write reviews but I am making a point because this place was absolutely terrible. Had the room for two nights but could not stay the second night. The door one the room would not even lock. When I notified staff the response was extremely rude and unaccommodating. I ended up booking another hotel for the second night. They did not refund my money for the second night and had the nerve to tell me that they wanted to re-rent the room since I was not staying there .... even thou I had paid for the room. Breakfast was your choice of a dried out muffin or a small box of cereal. The place need a serious renovation, can't say enough bad things about this place. The place is run by students who are told by the owners not to give out the owners phone numbers ..... all my complaints fell on death ears. I do feel sorry for the poor students that have to work in this place.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!!”

The only positive thing I can say about this inn is that the green line was right outside the door. When we first walked in to the building, I thought I could get past my first impression due to the historic nature of this building. oh no.... This was a filthy, run down inn that I would NEVER reccommend to anyone. I saw a mouse in the lobby and there was a mouse trap under each of the three beds in our room. We discovered those because we were looking for an earring I dropped. Those that run the place really couldn't care less...when I told them about the mouse their response was, "I'm sorry you had to see that". Please, don't even consider staying in this disgusting place.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms

“Felt like a touch of Europe - but with larger rooms!”

Beacon Inn felt like one of those personal and special finds. Great location and great character. While it is not at all slick - and might not be appropriate for everyone - (no elevator - small staff only on premises from 8am until 9 at night) it was perfect for my mother and myself - looking for an inexpensive comfortable place to spend the night and visit friends in Brookline. We stayed in room 3. Second floor - would not have been easy to carry bags to 4th floor. The room was in front of the house facing Beacon Street - so bit noisy - but that is charm of location. If you are looking for a chain hotel experience, or an "upscale" B&B you might not be comfortable here - but for clean reasonably priced accommodations in a great location with a VERY helpful staff - it is a wonderful find.
