I always consult Trip Advisor before booking a hotel and this trip was no exception. Problem was this was a last-minute trip and any hotels remotely reasonable in price was sold out. So were the bed & breakfast that were 4 stars and up. So I settled for the Beacon Inn despite the 2 1/2 star rating. The rating was dead on. Postives were: price was quite inexpensive, location near Kenmore square and right by the T stop was ideal for us, employees were helpful and nice, beds & pillows were very comfortable. Negatives: We had clean sheets and towels, but comforters, rugs & floors were very dingy and obviously hadnt been well cleaned in quite some time. Beautiful building but upkeep was definitely lacking-- everything looked shabby.
