“DO NOT STAY HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

For starters when I got here the OPEN sign was on but I had to push the night call button where some girl asked me "what do you want, do you have a reservation" , mind you I couldn't see her. She buzzed the door open and it smelled horribly like Indian food. I do like Indian food but I don't like to bath in it. The lady at the desk had no clue what she was doing. She had already charged my card and kept telling me her computer wasn't working, I didn't care I just needed to sleep.

If you value sleep and comfort this is not the place for you....I'm in a second floor NON smoking unit and the unit below me is a smoking unit.....I have to keep the bathroom door closed it smells so bad. The room is small and they packed as much junk into it as they can. It is so garage sale put together. The fridge, microwave, lamp and coffee pot are all one one surge protector that is just hanging there. The place smells funky. I would never recommend anyone ever stay here, it is discusting.

“So bad it makes a good story to tell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2010

The other reviews here are true. Unfortunately I was rushed to find a hotel for our event and had to book quickly before checking here. I picked the lowest priced place. But, it turned out not to be cheap at all. I would have gladly paid an additional $20 not to experience this disgusting motel.

We arrived after 11 PM and were greeted professionally by the front desk. So far so good. I knew this was a lower priced place so wasn't expecting a lot. Seemed like nice people in charge.

We had four rooms for my group.

Walking into our rooms the first thing that hit us was the smell of "air freshener" so bad that if I hadn't already paid and if it hadn't been so late, I would have moved.

After arriving one of my group members said, "can I sleep in the van? really."

Next surprise: In two of the rooms, the electricity didn't work. We complained and it was fixed about 20 minutes later, but we received no apology. Sort of like, "oh yeah, that again. Oh well."

After the lights came on, the rooms were ice cold and it took at least an hour to heat up.

The couch in my room was stained. Looked like it had been picked up from the dump, no kidding. Sheets were clean, but had tears or small holes.

Rationally I could tell that the rooms were cleaned, but for some reason I considered not walking bare foot on the carpet.

The bed was OK for a cheap place. I slept fine. The bath fixtures were new. But, the door to the bath in one of our rooms didn't close tightly.

The worse thing is that by the time we added up the tax and roll away bed charge for my group, two of the rooms were $95. Come on. This place should be in the $40 range.

We expected a breakfast as advertised, but by the time most of our group was up, all of the muffins were gone and no more were offered.

Overall: Staying at the Vancouver Econo Lodge is sort of like traveling to a third world nation, or camping.

The room was filthy, small and smelly. Refused to stay there. Moved across town. Not up to Econo Lodge standards

“Skip this motel!”

I arrived at 10 at night. they wouldn't even open the door. they spoke to me through glass you couldnt even see through. it wasn $70 for the night and it smelt bad inside. The bathroom door would stick so if someone went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, it made such a noise opening it. the tv had volume control it was set so low, we couldnt hear it. the space was cramped. couldnt get to the closet or the ironing board unless you climbed over the bed. people banging on the door next to us, sounded like they were coming in our place. the breakfast was lame.
absolutely not satisfied with this hotel. it had a 2.5 rating when i called and now i know why.

“Avoid at all cost”

One of the worst motels I've ever stayed at and it wasn't cheap either. The room smelled awful and the bed covering had cigarette burns. Noise from a train could be clearly heard too. Stay somewhere else if you're in the Portland area.
