This wasn't my first stay at this hotel but as usual I am always pleased with the surroundings, the service, the pool and the size of the sleeping room. This hotel is as traditional as it gets, the sweeping staircase, the library and my favorite, the Explorer Lounge. The decore of the lounge is that of "Out of Africa" and i picture myself in Karen Blixin's living room each time I go to imbibe. ( I have been to Karen Blixin's house in Nairobi). You can't ask for a more civilized experience. It is one that I have to have at least once a year.

To begin, please allow me to thank you for your loyalty to our hotel. We always love to welcome back regular guests, and we are thrilled that you enjoy our unique atmosphere.
The hotel was designed and decorated by Architect Arnold Savrann and Designer Joszi Meskan to reflect a feel of world travel and history while incorporating a sense of Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay. As you mentioned, the Explorer’s Longue especially embodies the hotel’s motif.
I was personally glad that our property reminded you of fond memories of your own world travel.
Our Italian marble floors, carved oak paneling, and signature grand staircase tend to leave a lasting impression on our valued guests. I hope you return to visit us again and again.
I remain at your service,
Massimiliano Puglisi
Director of Rooms Division
