The abacrombie fine food and restaurant might not be a luxury hotel, but is located in Baltimore’s cultural spot. I have to agree with some of the reviews already on Tripadvisor about the lack of room maintenance and the cheap included breakfasts, but if you want to stay at a superb location close to Baltimore’s downtown, the abacrombie is the place. The hotel is surrounded by theaters, museums and the opera house, and is just two blocks away from the light rail system (it starts at the airport). If you want to stay at the perfect room hotel with all the accommodations you can go to Baltimore’s harbor, where you can find hotels at $250 a night you will never leave. Finally I have to note the excellent restaurant the abacrombie has on its basement. The night I ate at the abacrombie the restaurant was full of locals (mainly families) having dinner, so that tells me that is a classic in town.

I came to Baltimore with my husband for a job interview, and made last minute reservations at the Abercrombie. We took a cab from the airport and arrived here around late in the afternoon. We ran into a bunch of frantic patrons rushing around the restaurant's corner, like some concert or event was going on nearby. After getting into the lobby, we noticed a savory odor coming from the restaurant and it was pretty enticing for a hungry woman. An attendant approached us with our reservation details and offered to help us with our luggage. It was very unique, we never stayed at a historical inn before. My husband checked out the room when we got in in case there were any issues, but there weren't any that got our attention. The telephone had some problems at first until we got it working again. I played on my laptop to help cope with the anxiety while he watched cable and messed with the amenities. My big meeting took place later the next morning, just after breakfast, which wass not bad. I was so surprised that the inn can make such tasty coffee that we couldn't get enough of it! I think my interview went pretty well, still waiting for a response though. Abacrombie Fine Food and Accommodations worked out fine for us, and I recommend it for all travelers to the city.

“Lovely accomodation, great location”

In June 2010 my wife and I spent a week in Baltimore visiting our son. We stayed at the Abacrombie and enjoyed it immensely. The Abacrombie is located less than a mile from where our son lives, it is also walking distance to the main train station and across the street from the symphony hall, so the location was perfect. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The Abacrombie also has on-site parking at no extra charge. We highly recommend this establishment.

“Excellent all around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

Abacrombie was a lifesaver. My college (MICA) finished its semester and i was stuck in Baltimore with no accommodations whatsoever. Abacrombie was at an extremely considerate location- i could commute to MICA if needed, there were an extremely large amount of restaurants in walking distance and the train station was maybe 10 minutes away. the rooms were exceedingly comfortable and clean. I slept great. The innkeeper was extremely understanding of my situation and was very helpful and made sure that my stay was conformable. The breakfast was great- made sure that i started my day with a full stomach. The restaurant was another great touch as I could eat good food without much trouble. i would recommend this place to anyone !

“Shabby accomodation, tattered, run down, deteriorated and thoroughly disgusting.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

We had the misfortune of staying at this B&B for four nights. Our reservation was made for us by my brother who lives nearby and last put up a guest there seven years ago. He assured us that it was "charming" when he last visited (seven years ago). We were greeted by a young man (who rapidly disappeared thereafter) with an envelop and a key to presumably the best (and I might add the most expensive) room. Torn dirty window shades, cracked and peeling paint, insulation stuffed in window frames, broken bathroom shelf, broken furniture, 12 inch TV not visible from the bed. Electric outlet gave choice of TV or small refrigerator, not both. No bath tub, but no matter as there was no hot water. Broken hair dryer required emergency trip to the breakfast room at 8AM to find the "attendant" as the telephone didn't work and calling the number provide for help on my cell phone received no answer. Coarse bedding, pillows like lead, and incredibly noisy heating. No bread at breakfast until the next day after we requested toast. (The attendant said that most people preferred English muffins so they didn't have bread.) Plastic sealed individual cheese slices at breakfast. Congealed individual grape jelly packets (I would estimate there age at 3-5 years). By chance we saw a less expensive room being cleaned when leaving the premises late on our third morning. It had a bathtub so we switched. Although nearly as run down and shabby, it had hot water (presumably as it was on the opposite side of the building and nearer the hot water heater) and a TV set that could be seen from the bed. I would guess there has been no maintenance in this facility for about 5-7 years.
