“Great night's sleep. Free parking, Clean”

I saw some of the reviews and was reluctant to stay here. However, I decided to give it a shot because they have free parking. Parking in Baltimore can be 20 per night and up. It is in a nice and safe area. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. It was immaculately clean, the air was apple scented and the furniture was unique. It was hot they had turned the window unit as well as the central air on so the temperature was comfortable. The room had unique furniture and nice touches such as a brass door holder. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. One problem I have in many hotels is not being able to sleep or being awakened by the people next door hearing their tv, being near the elevator or ice machine not so at this b and b. I hit the pillow and woke up 7 hours later. Breakfast was sparce but the coffee was good and it was enough to get me going. I have since stayed there several times. I always feel safe coming and going and sleep well. At the end of the block there is a stop for the Charm City Circulator. True there are scuffs on the walls in places, looks like people carrying their lugguage up the stairs and scuffed it. It depends what you want. I want safety, a good night's sleep, a good shower and no bed bugs I don't need a LCD TV and designer bath items so I plan to stay here if I need to be in Baltimore.

“great location older B&B much improved under new management”

My daughter graduated in May from MICA and I have been a frequent user of this Inn for the past 4 years. The new owner Todd took over in March and there are significant improvements from prior visits. He is accessible 24/7 by phone when he's not in the Inn and promptly handled any problems that arose. The breakfast was great: Organic Milk, organic greek yogurt, fresh fruit, hot and cold cereal, fresh baked muffins, croissants, ---for me the perfect complimentary continental breakfast.. And the coffee was better than coffee shop quality---it was really good(and I am fussy about coffee, grind my beans at home and only buy high quality coffee). As a Baltimore native, Todd was a good source of information about the city and things to do, and his great directions prevented me from getting lost when I left the city for the 8 hour + drive home. He's also very personable and chatted with the guests at breakfast which added a homey and personal atmosphere to the experience. This location can't be beat. Walking distance to everything --great restaurants, MICA, public transportation and train station. Also parking is free, which is a rarity in the city. So while it wasn't a "full service" hotel, for the price and location it was well worth it. I plan to stay again when I next visit my daughter who is staying in Baltimore.
Now this is an old bed and breakfast style Inn--yes the walls need painting, but it's clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2011

This bed and breakfast was disappointing in several ways. Location was on a main drag, and was somewhat noisy at night. The walls were scuffed, the halls and stairway dingy. Room was drab, with industrial carpeting, cheap furnishings and poor sheets. Chipped paint, poor lighting. Help was minimal. Dirty basket in bathroom for toiletries. Breakfast was minimal to say the least. Restaurant seemed closed. Manager was pleasant and tried to be helpful, but I would avoid this establishment.

The abacrombie fine food and restaurant might not be a luxury hotel, but is located in Baltimore’s cultural spot. I have to agree with some of the reviews already on Tripadvisor about the lack of room maintenance and the cheap included breakfasts, but if you want to stay at a superb location close to Baltimore’s downtown, the abacrombie is the place. The hotel is surrounded by theaters, museums and the opera house, and is just two blocks away from the light rail system (it starts at the airport). If you want to stay at the perfect room hotel with all the accommodations you can go to Baltimore’s harbor, where you can find hotels at $250 a night you will never leave. Finally I have to note the excellent restaurant the abacrombie has on its basement. The night I ate at the abacrombie the restaurant was full of locals (mainly families) having dinner, so that tells me that is a classic in town.

“Nice Trip”

I came to Baltimore with my husband for a job interview, and made last minute reservations at the Abercrombie. We took a cab from the airport and arrived here around late in the afternoon. We ran into a bunch of frantic patrons rushing around the restaurant's corner, like some concert or event was going on nearby. After getting into the lobby, we noticed a savory odor coming from the restaurant and it was pretty enticing for a hungry woman. An attendant approached us with our reservation details and offered to help us with our luggage. It was very unique, we never stayed at a historical inn before. My husband checked out the room when we got in in case there were any issues, but there weren't any that got our attention. The telephone had some problems at first until we got it working again. I played on my laptop to help cope with the anxiety while he watched cable and messed with the amenities. My big meeting took place later the next morning, just after breakfast, which wass not bad. I was so surprised that the inn can make such tasty coffee that we couldn't get enough of it! I think my interview went pretty well, still waiting for a response though. Abacrombie Fine Food and Accommodations worked out fine for us, and I recommend it for all travelers to the city.
