“Enjoyable Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The new Marriott is in a great location; on the point between the inner harbor and Fells Point and just a couple blocks from Little Italy. The area seems to be where the new money and energy are being invested and it’s easy to see why. Great views, calmer traffic, with all the best of Baltimore within walking distance. As for the hotel, it’s a great place with omnipresent staff there to help with whatever your needs. The lobby was expansive and rich. Perhaps one of the best hotel exercise rooms and indoor pools I’ve seen. The rooms were well appointed albeit a bit on the smaller scale. Oddly enough, we found the beds reminiscent of a lumpy hammock. All-in-all, this would be the hotel I’d choose to go back to for my next stay in Baltimore.

“A Baltimore Bedrock”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

A distinctive Marriott, with a quiet sophistication and some of the better service you will experience at this chain. It's a centralized, convenient location on the water and the harbor views are memorable. The rooms are spotless and the decor is well-appointed. Like most Marriott's, the dining is forgettable at best, so a trip outside will be well rewarded. There are half a dozen decent restaurants across the street and all the best of Baltimore is but a short cab ride away. Like most people who have reviewed this property, I am a fan of this hotel. It has a casual, elegant vibe and they understand what their guests are looking for.

“Stunning views, outstanding Concierge Lounge - but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed here on business along with a couple of other co-workers. As a Marriott elite, I was put on the Concierge floor in a room that overlooked the harbor. The view was great. The room itself was a good size and the bed was quite comfortable. The flat-screen TV had a good selection of cable channels and a few of them were in hi-def. There is wired and wireless internet for $12.95/day, unless your plan includes it. I used the wired and found the speed to be excellent, even in the evenings.

If you are a Marriott elite, or if you book the Concierge floor, you will have access to the lounge. I found it to be one of the best lounges in the Marriott chain. The breakfast was hearty as were the evening selections. The attendants were always friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. On Wednesdays, there is a managers reception with complimentary drinks.

There was one rather major glitch in my stay in that there was no hot water one morning (my co-workers were affected several mornings). The front desk was very apologetic and explained the problem. Evidently there is a problem with the current system so they had brought in a temporary boiler which was parked on the side of the property. This boiler can't keep up with demand on some mornings. I am still giving the property a high rating because it is otherwise so nice and (I hope) it is just a temporary problem (although it had been going on for a couple of weeks, I found out). You may want to check to see if the hot water issue has been resolved before your stay, however.

Room Tip: Upper floor harbor view is best.

“Good rooms, great views, terrible food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The hotel is in a great spot on the east side of the Inner Harbor. An easy walk to the Aquarium makes it a good base if you're in town for that particular attraction.

We booked a "Deluxe oversized" guest room with king bed. It's unclear on the website what that means, so here is what it is: a corner room. You get a little extra space, but much if it is unusable in the form of a very long entryway from the door to the bedroom area. I wouldn't get this room for the "extra" space, but the harbor views were certainly spectacular (though you can get a similar view from other harbor view rooms, it just won't be a corner room).

The only real downside to this hotel is the 700 Grille, the main restaurant in the lobby. The food is not great and is very overpriced. There are many much better choices just steps away in the Inner Harbor or the adjacent Little Italy neighborhood.

Staff is better than expected for a mega chain like Marriott. We arrived early in the day and called to see if we could check in early. The phone guy was unhelpful, but we checked again at the front desk just to be sure and got a room immediately from the very helpful and friendly clerk Grace. She even made sure the crib we requested was delivered immediately. Awesome service.

Room Tip: "Deluxe oversized" rooms are corner rooms with pretty nice views.

“Wonderful Weekend Getaway Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I want to commend the hotel on the wonderful staff we encountered during our stay at the Marriott Waterfront. From Julia at the front desk, to the assorted valets working out front, everyone was friendly and attentive. When I requested rooms with a harbor view, I was informed of the upgrade fee. I declined the upgrade but Julia was able to provide us with rooms with a semi- marina and waterfront view. Just as nice. We stayed on the 15th floor and there was no vending machine available for me to get a bottle of water. It was 11pm and the deli had just closed so I went to the front desk to request a floor number where I could find a vending machine. The desk clerk-I am sorry I didn't get her name- asked me for my room number and had water delivered to us. Again, another touch of great customer service and going above and beyond. This stay was arranged through Priceline due to the greatly reduced price offered through them. No where in my experience the weekend did I feel like a "discount" customer.
When planning another trip to the Inner Harbor, I will be sure to include staying at the Waterfront Marriott.
The in-house restaurant provide breakfast options from sit down service menu selections to walk out pastries and coffee in the deli section.
It was just a short walk (approx. 1/2 mile) to the Aquarium and Pier 5 and just beyond to the HarborPlace shops and restaurants. There is a Water Taxi stop just outside the building to make getting around the harbor easier if you or the weather are not up for walking.
