“Wonderful service, great city.”

A friend and I stayed at the Hotel Monaco Baltimore just for two short nights. The hotel is in a grand, old building which has been refurbished into a hotel on one side and an office building on the other side. The staff were all very accommodating, professional and friendly. The location was central and very quiet at night. Parking was wonderfully easy - choose the valet or the self serve which is literally around the corner. The only downsides to this hotel were in the rooms. As noted in other reviews, the room was extremely large and spacious which was lovely. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower but no tub and the towel bar/hooks were quite far away with no option to hang your towel/robe anywhere nearby. The bathroom did not have a fan option or a window. The hotel pumped a sweet smelling air freshener throughout which can cause problems if you are sensitive to perfumes and the windows, bright and large, do not open. Upon arrival, we found an uneaten vitamin (someone else's) on the carpet in the middle of the room. In general, the linens and the furniture were a bit worn and scratched and felt like it needed a bit of care. The location and the service may outweigh the downside depending on your priorities.

Dear Wunderous,

I apologize for the vitiamin that was in the guest room upon arrival. We will definitely work to ensure that does not happen in the future. We will also look into the care of our guest rooms as you suggested as well. I am happy to read you enjoyed the service and we hope to have you back soon.

“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My family and I stayed here before our cruise left out of Baltimore the next day.

Service started to moment we pulled up to the front of the hotel. It was raining outside, so the parking attendants came over with leopard print umbrellas to make sure we didnt get wet and loaded all of our suitcases on to a luggage cart for us.

One of our rooms wasnt clean, but they straightened this out quickly and put us in a new room that was beautiful. They even put your name on the tv when you get checked in. lol.

The beds were super comfortable and the room was decorated beautifully. The bathroom was big and clean and even the mini bar was nice.

Once again, another excellent Kimpton experience and cant wait to to stay at another very soon!

“Another Great Stay!”

This is our second stay in 3 years at the Monoaco. Location is perfect. Walking distance to the harbor and the Mariner stadium. Short cab ride to airport (20 min/no traffic) as well as other stadiums. We splurged on the Mediterranean suite which was only $179 (plus taxes) on Jetsetter!
We originally booked via Kimpton's website and I called to get the Jetsetter rate...they were honest and said they couldn't so just cancel with them and book with Jetsetter! We love the suite as it has a Japanese soaking tub and the suites are generlly corner rooms. Staff is awesome and so helpful.
Great recommendations for dinner and other suggestions. The wine reception in the lobby at 5:00 pm is such a nice touch....it was standing room only! My only "issue" is that the rooms look like they could use a little refreshing. Our bathroom was fabulous bu the living room furniture has seen better days. Bed was very compfortable and as always, the pet goldfish is a nice touch! Love the robes (again, those have seen better days!) and as a Kimpton In Touch member, we get $10 to "raid the honor bar"! How fun is that! Thank you Kimpton for another fabulous stay! Just suggested your hotel in San Diego to friends and they are loving it as well!

Room Tip: Kimpton rooms tend to be on the small side so splurge on a Mediterranean suite or King suite if poss...

“Quick stop - wished I could have stayed longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

First, let me say I am a FAN of the KIMPTON brand. Again, I was very pleased. For this trip, I was collecting my daughter from a cruise trip down at the pier on Sat morning and wanted a reliable hotel to place our heads after a long workweek. My college age son accompanied me and we convinced an aunt to also book a room at this property for the night. Just walking into this historic building is a treat in itself. Marble from floor to three stories up, WOW! I cannot tell you how beautiful it was, you have to see it in person. Any train buffs out there? This is your hotel! It is the former home of the B&O RR Headquarters; apparently, they did QUITE well back in the day... Our room was a double queen, smartly decorated and very clean (I am particular). It was also very quiet. The mini-bar was fun to puruse, for our stay they had a wine promotion - 2 tickets for wine at the bar in addtion to the wine hour in the lobby, we met for din at the hotel B&O Brasserie that night for convenience and the food was outstanding. For Kimpton Loyal rewards members, they had a special "raid the mini-bar" promotion too; we had $15 in complimentary mini-bar credit, fun! I truly did not want to leave the hotel at 7am in the morning, and plan to return when we can enjoy for a weekend getaway. If you are traveling by rail or bus, it is a very convenient location downtown. Not far up the hill is the lovely Mount Vernon neighborhood. Looking forward to exploring this stately area on our next stay.

Room Tip: Free internet for Kimpton Loyalty members, yea!
