This is a really historic looking place, although they say it was renovated in 1985 as an Inn. It is darling, with fascinating little touches. For instance, each room has a little plaque outside the door with historical reference to someone or family--just interesting! Now, if you want cookie cutter Hampton Inn or something, please don't go here and then write a bad review. there is no DVD, no fridge in the room. But there are fabulous antiques, pure beautiful silk upholstery in the lobby, and the Inn is actually seven buildings joined together if you can imagine that. Food is great, staff is generous and in a good mood, towels are comfy, Figi water, hot jazz in a styling basement bar place---brunch was great. And, the desk staff is always falling over itself to give you a bonus here, dollars off there, cheap reservation next time---just for fun! and within walking distance are the greatest stores--jewelry, shoes, cool clothes, and a million restaurants, and 47 bars they told us. Super ghost tour of the hotel on Saturday night, and wine and cheese reception. I'm going back ASAP Oh, one downside, there is no handle or sticky surface on the tub, showers are dangerous for old folks.
