“$46.16 a night for a cabin !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

Stayed here for four nights while attending the Texas Star Party. Dave the manager is a 31 year military veteran and has great passion for his facility and the guests that stay in the RV, cabin or tent sections. A cabin with microwave, small mini-refrigerator, cable TV and hot showers was nice after dealing with the heat and the dirt and dust kicked up by the winds during the first week of June 2011. The beds are new and exceptionally comfortable; check-in and check-out was easy. You need to bring your own towels and toiletries. Close to Fort Davis National Historic Site, walk two blocks for a great mexican restaurant and lots of free parking. I met three other star party attendees that stayed here and they all felt very positive about their stay at the Overland Trail Campground in Fort Davis Texas.

“GREAT LOCATION AND THE CABINS HAD HOMEY FEEL TO THEM”

I stayed for 3 NIGHTS,MAR.23,24,25,2011.The owner was nice despite the other reviews. This is not a hotel that you can all the sservices of one. These are cabins. They have comfortable beds and have a microwave and minifrig supplied in each cabin. They have ac and ceilings fans.your supplied with bedding and extra blankets if needed. The only drawback is that you bring your own towels. And you dont get daily maid service. The owner was very nice and helpful. He makes sure everything is going ok with your stay.Just be a good guest and dont be complainer, and your stay will be excellent.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

Never have my family and I ever felt so unwelcome. The old man running the show constantly smelled of alcohol, was beyond rude, and tried to pick a fight with my dad and brother. The pictures posted online are incredibly deceiving. The beds and pillows were plastic, the shower water was cold, and the high speed WiFi that's advertised is one little bar of service that holds signal for maybe 5 minutes if your lucky. We were supposed to stay two nights but left immediately after our first nights stay.

“Beware of rude owner & tight spots”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

This was one of six RV parks my family stayed in during our Spring Break RV vacation. At every other location, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. However, this place is run by a man that I can't believe stays in business. He is rude, difficult, menacing, disrespectful, and geuninely seemed annoyed that he had customers. From the moment I pulled in, he punched the side of my RV with his hand loudly and dressed me down for pulling in past where his stop sign said for visitors to stop. On several other instances where we were forced to interface with him, he found something to be critical or difficult about, made us extremely uncomfortable, and was as far from hospitable and gracious as he could possibly be. Another family we knew was staying there that night and had the same experience - so it wasn't just us. Even though we had paid for two nights, we tried to find another place to stay the second night (unfortunately they were full - but Prude Ranch nearby looked nice if you can get in).

I saw one or two other posts here from folks who warmed up to this guy - so if you are thick skinned, willing to take some disrespect and abuse, and believe you should have to have to work to earn the respect and civility of a business owner, maybe this is for you. But I'll be warning anyone I can talk to to stay away from this place.

As to the place itself, the location was nice that you could walk to town and restaurants and shops. But the RV spots were small and tight, and the park is surrounded by very run down RV homes.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2009

I gave them my credit card information in advance for a room there when I got there they said they did not take credit cards and we when we ask why it was different from when it was different from the phone he went crazy and made me cry and ruined our trip to Fort Davis. This guy is evil do not stay here.
