“Pleasant place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2008

The Rosebriar Inn is a beautiful old home and a pleasant place to stay. The double rooms are very small, quite difficult to move about in really, and I felt that the rooms could use a good cleaning.
The woman who manages the inn was nice, and her husband did the morning breakfasts.
Breakfasts were very good, eggs benedict one morning, french toast another morning, with fresh fruit and juice offered as well.
In the evening, a complimentary bottle of wine is left out by the fireplace in the main entry, which is really a nice touch.
Overall, I would recommend it.

  • Liked — The location to downtown Astoria, and the breakfasts.
  • Disliked — The room was so small, as was the bathroom, it was very difficult to maneuver at times

“Great location”

We just stayed at the Rosebriar for two nights and enjoyed our stay. Some have complained about the breakfasts but we found them to be fine. You are close to town and the views of the Colombia River and the Astoria Bridge are very nice. The only thing at all negative would be they need to clean the carpets and spruce the place up a little. It could be that they had a busy summer and haven't had a chance to do this yet this fall. Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. We found the owners to be very friendly and accommodating and all in all we had liked our stay here.

  • Liked — location and view
  • Disliked — carpet a little stained

“Almost Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2008

We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon down the Oregon Coast and were rewarded with a perfect beginning to our trip. The hotel is in a great location just a few blocks above the downtown, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The view of the Columbia River and the Astoria Bridge from the lobby is a real treat.

Our room was very nice and clean, with some of the softest sheets we've ever experienced. The staff was friendly and personable.

The only thing holding this back from a 5-star rating was, as other reviews noted, the subpar breakfast. We were served pancakes with strawberries and bacon - the pancakes weren't that good and another table complained theirs were cold. I was surprised at the low quality of the breakfast given how well everything else had gone, but it would not stop me from highly recommending this hotel it to others.

“So tranquil”

The Rosebriar eceeds epectations. In a beautiful location in Astoria, this B&B is not to be missed!
The owners go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable.
Complimentary wine in the living room of an evening, a gorgeous breakfast room (complimentary breakfast), pretty gardens and a great peaceful location.
The Rosebriar was once a convent, and the elegant, fully contained rooms all have a view. Would be ideal for a wedding too. :)

“Friendly, Warm B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2008

We found this B&B through the Rough Guide on a rainy day. Although not raved about in the forementioned guide, the service and standard of the room for the price was incredible. We stayed in room 6 which was large enough for our needs as we like cosy rooms.

The new owners (two weeks running when we arrived) had made us feel at home with a little intro to the history of the house, a warm burning fire and a nice bottle of wine for ours to open in the lovely lounge with views of the river mouth.

Breakfast was a OK, not to a standard that you would be happy paying for in a cafe, but only a minor complain in comparision to the service you get here for the price!
