My husband and I stayed at the Astoria Inn in September of 2011. Mickey was not able to greet us upon our arrival, but she left a sweet note on the door to welcome us to her home. Since we were the only guests, she moved us to the Cape Lookout Room, which has the best view.
My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch. There was a slightly obstructed view of the river. We were able to watch ships go by, and were serenaded by the local sea lions. Mickey was the perfect hostess, and made us a delicious breakfast.
The house was well kept, and the rooms were very clean. It is decorated in the "old style" of B&B's that was popular in the 1980's and 1990's with busy wallpaper, dark green carpeting, artificial flower arrangements and wreaths, and chotski's everywhere. I've never seen so many pigs in one kitchen. If you are looking for a modern "spa" experience, this will not be the place for you. However, if you want a great value, and a sweet hostess, this is a wonderful place.
