We were very happy with our stay at the Holiday Inn in Astoria. The hotel is right at the base of the bride that crosses the Columbia River to Washington. The ships that come in or out go right in front of the hotel so close you can darn near swim out to touch them. Though I wouldn't advise it. The view from the hotel is great, though it's not the ocean, its still spectacular. The person at the front counter was pleasant and friendly. The entire grounds were very clean, the hotel had good parking, well lit and easy to find. The inside of the hotel was clean. Our room was beautiful with a window overlooking the river. We were on the fourth floor. We were able to open the window and hear the waves gently lapping onto the shore all night. The ships that come in and out are extremely quiet. It's amazing actually how quiet they are. The bed was comfortable, the shower was fantastic, hot, good water pressure, etc. We didn't do breakfast there but went out instead but the hotel breakfast is the standard high carb spread (though again was clean looking and presented well). We chose a local restaurant recommended by the front desk clerk on our checking out. I highly recommend this facility. It was very much appreciated compared to some of the places we have stayed at in Astoria.

The room was very nice and the view of the river great. We enjoyed the continental breakfast. Will be back again.

This is our second time staying at this hotel and we will absolutely be back. The location is great and it is an easy drive to anywhere in Astoria from this hotel. Both times we have stayed here, we have had a room with a fireplace and a great view of the river. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is nice and quiet. The room where breakfast is served has a great view of the river as well. For the location and room, the rate can't be beat. The front desk staff is very friendly and attentive. You won't go wrong staying here.

On our recent trip to the US, we ventured down the coast and stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn. We were in Astoria for the "obligatory" Goonies site-seeing and this was a perfect place to stay. The hotel itself is in a great location (just off the bridge that links Washington to Oregon) and has plenty around it.
The hotel itself was pretty nicely appointed and our room was large and nicely furnished. We had a fantastic view of the bridge and harbour/river, and this was particularly to look at on dusk.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful in regards to helping us find the places we were looking for during out site-seeing. They also offered some great suggestions of other things to do as we made our way down the coast before heading inland to Portland.
Although we did not use it, the pool looked good enough for a quick dip but was pretty busy most of the time.
Being in a great location and being a nice, affordable family-friendly hotel, it was busy. Breakfast the next morning was pretty simple (your typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast) but the sheer number of people meant that the dining room was a little squashed and pretty loud. If you happened to get the timing of your arrival for breakfast wrong, you'd have to wait. Still, the staff seemed friendly and tried to help as much as possible when we observed this happening to some other guests and they never seemed to wait for too long.
If moving through Astoria, definitely give this hotel a go!
