Stayed here for one night on a trip heading down the coast. Couldn't find a room in town at a reasonable rate, so decided to stay here instead. If you loved the 1980s, you'll like this place. Small '80s TV (maybe 23" screen), groovy '80s microwave, sad oak veneer '80s furniture. And the weird old motel smell. We were in the building next to the road, but we didn't have appreciable road noise through the night. The room was big, and our king bed was very firm and comfortable. And the view from the big sliding glass door onto the shared balcony...the view is pretty amazing. A great panoramic view of the river and all of the big ships heading in and out of Portland.
The pricing was a little strange. I reserved the room on the web page, and even though the motel stated it was AAA, I couldn't find a AAA price on the site. Sent them an e-mail about a AAA price, and never got a reply. Then when we checked out, the gal at the front desk told us the web price was the AAA price. Huh? Whatever.
Otherwise, the gal at the front desk was friendly and helpful, and has a sweet little black cat. The continental breakfast is nothing special, just a bunch of muffins and english muffins, and some pretty tough percolator coffee. If you are breakfast person, skip it and go into town.
Upshot: a decent place to stay if you need a place to crash and get a good night's sleep. Don't bother paying extra for the view, even though it's great. If you are looking for a place to hang out and chill, or something romantic, go elsewhere.
