Visiting my brother in Hillsboro, near Portland, we drove to the coast and had lunch here at "The Best Brew Pub in Town" (per my brother, a beer aficionado). The place was full at 3 p.m. which I guessed was a good sign of their popularity. They opened the "Tap Room" (every Fri. and Sat. 3-9 p.m., lucky us!) next door in the brewery building just west of the main location. There we dined while looking at the big stainless steel vats used for brewing the many fine beers they offer. While I do not drink beer, many in our party did, and all said the selection and quality was exceptional.
Our lunch service was a bit slow in getting orders placed and food delivered, but we Were a large party, with over 15 of us there. The burgers and other sandwiches were delicious and came with a choice of fries (skins on) or slaw. The prices are not cheap, but not too bad, with burgers starting at $8 and most sandwiches going for $10-$12. I had the tuna melt (toasted panini like, not grilled) and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Albacore was almost "steak-like" rather than minced with mayo... it tasted very good. After lunch, we even got to play some foos-ball on a table in the brewing area.
A good choice in Astoria for lunch or dinner... especially for beer drinkers.
